Mr. Pongkawin Jungrungruangkit, Minister of Labour revealed that following the Cabinet resolution on July 1, 2025, the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Interior were tasked with considering relief measures for Cambodian nationals affected by the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border, allowing them to remain in the Kingdom and continue working in a manner appropriate to the current context. Thus, today (July 1, 2025), a meeting of the Foreign Workers ‘ Management Policy Committee was held to determine guidelines and measures for managing the work of the aforementioned group of foreign workers. The committee approved the following relief measures for Cambodian workers holding Border Passes, whether valid or expired, who had been allowed to work in Thailand under Section 64 of the Royal Decree on the Management of Foreign Workers, B.E. 2560, and its amendments. These workers, whose stay permits in designated border areas have now expired, will be granted the following relief: Temporary stay in the Kingdom extended by 6 months or until the relevant border checkpoint reopens. June 23, 2025 – Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Permanent Secretary of Labour, addressed the current situation of Thai workers in Israel amid the ongoing unrest in the Middle East. His remarks followed his chairing of the 3rd Meeting (2025) of the Coordination and Assistance Centre for Monitoring the Unrest in the State of Israel, held at the Prasong Rananan Meeting Room, 5th Floor, Ministry of Labour. He stated that, in light of the escalating tensions in the Middle East between Israel and Iran, the Ministry of Labour is closely monitoring developments under the directive of Prime Minister Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra. The Ministry’s highest priority is to ensure the complete safety (100%) of all Thai workers in affected areas. On April 3, 2025, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, revealed that from the earthquake on March 28 and the building collapse that caused injuries and deaths, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, gave great importance and took immediate action. He instructed the establishment of a war room to help workers within 1 hour after the incident broke out nationwide. Currently, as of April 2, 2025, the Ministry of Labour has assisted by paying compensation to 22 affected people through social security benefits, totaling 17,388,375 Baht, divided into 850,000 Baht for funeral expenses, 15,568,392 Baht for compensation in the event of death, and 969,983 Baht for old age pensions. On January 30, 2025, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, spoke about the progress in the case of a technical trainee who died in Japan and expressed his deepest condolences to the deceased’s family.
