MOL Joins Maritime Labour Committee Meeting No. 3/2022

            On July 22, 2022, at 09.00 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, chaired the Maritime Labour Committee Meeting No. 3/2022. The meeting considered the report on the implementation of the International Labour Organization Convention on Maritime Labour, B.E. 2549 (2006), No. 2 of Thailand, and the need for secondary legislation under Article 45 of the Maritime Labour Act B.E. 2558, for other reasons a seafarers or ship owners might terminate a seafarer employment agreement effective in less than seven days or without prior notice. It also considered the need for secondary legislation under Section 46 of the Maritime Labour Act B.E. 2558 on the determination of minimum wage rates for seafarers, the need for secondary legislation under Section 35 of the Maritime Labour Act B.E. 2558 regarding other expenses for employment licensees to request or receive from job seekers. Krabi Labour Officer Joins Krabi Labour Volunteer Leadership Meeting No. 3/2022

On July 8, 2022, Krabi Provincial Labour Officer Mrs. Niramol Muenjit presided over the third Krabi Labour Volunteer Leadership Meeting No. 3/2022, which took place at the Labour Conference Room 4, Krabi Provincial Ministry of Labour Government Center. The Krabi Labour Volunteer Association, led by Mrs. Aphanee Chuan, Chairperson of the Krabi labour volunteer leaders, joined the meeting to consider the draft regulations for Krabi labour volunteers to develop the Krabi labour volunteer work to be more effective.

MOL Organizes Merit-Making and Candle Offering Ceremony on Asanaha Bucha Day and Buddhist Lent Day 2022

            On July 11, 2022, at 09.30 hours, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, to preside over the merit-making ceremony, offering alms to nine monks and candles, on Asanha Bucha Day and Buddhist Lent Day 2022. The Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion to preserve Thai traditions and to strengthen the organizational culture by cultivating the consciousness of personnel with morality leading to development. It also aims to provide opportunities for executives, civil servants, and officials to participate in activities promoting good governance and as a mechanism to promote corruption prevention and misconduct in the performance of government services. Subcommittee Judges the Provincial Contest and the TO BE NUMBER ONE Association at the Diamond and Upper-Diamond Level for 2022

          On Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 15.30 hours, the subcommittee for judging the provincial contest and the TO BE NUMBER ONE association at the diamond and upper-diamond level for 2022, including the Ministry of Interior’s Inspector-General Mr. Santithorn Yimlamai, a retired official under the Office of the Basic Education Commission Mr. Kitti Suthijitpaisan, Lieutenant Colonel Rungnapha Prasanpanich, and retired official under the Ministry of Interior visited Chanthaburi to for the provincial judging of the TO BE NUMBER ONE contest. The occasion took place at the Ploychan Meeting Room, Office of the Chanthaburi Provincial Public Health Office, Mueang Chanthaburi District, Chanthaburi Province. The Chanthaburi TO BE NUMBER ONE committee gave the presentation, including the Deputy Chanthaburi Provincial Governor (Mr. Niwet Hansamut), the Chanthaburi Provincial Public Health Doctor, representatives from the Chanthaburi Permanent Secretary Office, representatives from the Chanthaburi Provincial Education Office, the Chanthaburi Provincial Labour Office, representatives from the Chanthaburi Provincial Prison Commander, representatives from the Chanthaburi Juvenile Observation and Protection Center and representatives from the Chanthaburi Provincial Probation Office.

Pattani Province Inspects Fishing Vessels to Prevent Human Trafficking Following the Action Plan for Prevention of Forced Labour or Services, and Human Trafficking in Persons in Pattani for 2022

          On Thursday, July 7, 2022, Mr. Sani Hemhim, Pattani Provincial Labour Officer and Director of the Labour Trafficking Prevention Center in Pattani Province assigned Labour Academics Mrs. Kimita Thinchim and Ms. Chayanuch Tongsrao to inspect fishing boats to prevent human trafficking following the Action Plan for Prevention of Forced Labour or Services, and Human Trafficking in Persons in Pattani Province for 2022. They jointly inspected fishing boats and workers in the fisheries sector to manage the problem of migrant workers and human trafficking in fisheries for fisheries operators to comply with relevant laws. They worked with the Pattani Marine Office for National Interest, the Pattani Marine Police, the Pattani Port Authority Office, and the Pattani Labour Protection and Welfare Office for 2022. They inspected three vessels and 52 workers in fisheries, comprising 16 Cambodian workers, 26 Myanmar workers, and 10 Thai workers. The inspection found no sign of human trafficking in the Pattani waters.

Phayao Provincial Labour Office Organizes Project to Honour H.M. King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua by Labour Volunteers to Develop the Hometown of Phayao Province for the 9th Time in 2022

          On Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 09.00 hours, the Phayao Provincial Labour Office, led by Phayao Provincial Labour Officer Ms. Kamonwan Boonyuen and staff from the Phayao Provincial Labour Office, to organize a project to honour H.M. King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, by labour volunteers to develop the hometown of Phayao Province for the 2022 fiscal year. The activities were combined with those to honour Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother’s 90th birthday on August 12, 2022. The activities were growing vegetables in a kitchen garden according to the philosophy of a sufficiency economy. Heads of government agencies and officers of departments under the Ministry of Labour in Phayao Province and subdistrict level labour volunteers in Pong District participated in the activity. Nakhon Pathom Labour Office Welcomes the Subcommittee for Monitoring the Performance of Provinces and Districts and the TO BE NUMBER ONE Association at the National Level for the Local Scoring Round for 2022 and Supports the TO BE NUMBER ONE Association at Indorama Polyester Industry PCL

          On July 5, 2022, at 09.20 hours, Nakhon Pathom Labour Officer Ms. Yupin Mooljantha, Nakhon Chai Si District Chief Mr. Aruch Aimaot, representatives from the Nakhon Pathom Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office, representatives of Nakhon Pathom Provincial Public Health Doctors, and from the Nakhon Chai Si District Public Health Office, welcomed Mr. Prawit Kiengphon, former Chief Inspector-General from the Ministry of Labour, Police Lieutenant Colonel Rungnapha Prasanpanich, the Ministry of Interior’s Specialist, the subcommittee for monitoring the performance of provinces and districts, and the TO BE NUMBER ONE Association at the national level. The committee paid a visit to observe and collect points for the TO BE NUMBER ONE contest.            On June 30, 2022, Academic Labour Advisor Mrs. Napasorn Toongsooksai joined the Driving Sustainable Efficiency for Trafficking in Persons Subcommittee Meeting No. 2/2022. Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, Police General Thammasak Wicharaya, chaired the meeting. On June 28, 2022, at 13.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suthamanuswong  chaired the meeting of the committee to consider and prepare the annual budget expenditures of the Ministry of Labour no. 2/2022. MOL Joins Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Committee Meeting No. 2/2022

          On June 23, 2022, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, joined the Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Committee (SME) Meeting No. 2/2022 to acknowledge the reports on answers to the Prime Minister’s questions. The Chairman of the Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Committee Meeting No. 1/2022 gave a report on the ongoing performance of the ONE ID pilot project and the development of the Single Sign One system for the SME to obtain services from the government in 2013 (One Identification One SME – Phase III), and actions on public-private partnerships. It also delivered the continuous performance report on the implementation of the powers and duties of the SME Executive Committee under Section 20 of the Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Act B.E. 2543, on the approval of the promotion plan for small and medium-sized enterprises, the SME’s action plan on the issuance of new rules/regulations, and amending the old rules/regulations.           In addition, the meeting acknowledged the draft project to drive the achievement of goals according to the national strategy for the 2024 fiscal year.
