Labour Minister Assigns Assistant to Conclude Proactive Covid-19 Screening Program in the Workplace in Chonburi

          On February 24, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong to preside over the closing ceremony of the proactive Covid-19 screening program for the workplace following the Labour Minister’s policies. The occasion took place at the King Pack Industrial Company Limited, Muang Chonburi, Chonburi. The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Prateep Songlamyong, also joined the occasion. The efforts took a proactive approach to detect insured persons at risk in workplaces situated in provinces that were in the most controlled areas following the severity levels prescribed by the Center for the Covid-19 Situation Administration. Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Visit Phetchaburi to Consult with Myanmar Labour Ambassador to Expedite Compensation to Families of the Deceased from the Boat Capsize Off the Coast of Cha-am

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned his Advisor to visit Phetchaburi to meet with the Myanmar Labour Ambassador and heads of its affiliated agencies to accelerate the assistance of compensation and benefits for the families of three deceased Myanmar employees involved in a boat capsize in the Gulf of Thailand in Cha-am. He emphasized that the government and the Ministry of Labour provide care and protection to the foreign workers to work in Thailand legally according to human rights principles, including social security and various protections according to the law, equal to Thai workers in all respects. Labour Minister Welcomes Automobile Labour Congress of Thailand and Labour Leaders to Encourage and Support MOL Carrying Out Missions

            On February 23, 2021, at 08.45 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin welcomed Mr. Manit Promkarikul, President of the Automobile Labour Congress of Thailand, and Mr. Santi Patiphanarat, Secretary-General of Thailand Motorcyclists Association and Vice President of the Informal Workers’ Federation, Deputy of the Informal Workers’ Confederation, and the delegation, on the occasion of taking labour leaders to give words of encouragement and support to the missions of the Labour Minister who has assisted insured persons under Section 33 affected by Covif-19. Previously, the labour leaders submitted a letter to the Labour Minister asking the Ministry of Labour to help the workforce recover from the Covid-19 impacts. Although some businesses did not stop all operations, many establishments have reduced wages and reduced overtime payments to employees. MOL Joins Senate Labour Committee Meeting

           On February 23, 2021, at 08.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol assigned Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Aumpun Thuvavit to join a meeting with the Senate Labour Committee at the Office of the Commission No. 410, 4th floor, Parliament Building. Labour Minister Monitors “Section 33 We Love Each Other” Online Registrations Reporting 5.6M Applicants in Half a Day

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin visited the Social Security Office to monitor the progress for the first day of online registrations to the “Section 33 We Love Each Other” program. Over 5.6 million registrations were submitted. The SSO has arranged for service staff on the 1506 hotline, press 1, and is confident that the database is ready and will not fail for sure. Labour Minister Urges SSO to Prepare System and Review Center for “Section 33 We Love Each Other” Project

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin emphasized that the Social Security Office prepare the online system and review center for the “Section 33 We Love Each Other” project to facilitate insured persons for the most efficiency.           On February 20, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the progress of the “Section 33 We Love Each Other” project that the Cabinet, under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, passed a resolution to approve the “Section 33 We Love Each Other” on February 15, 2021. The government will pay 4,000 Baht per person for remedial assistance. The Ministry of Labour, under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, was assigned the project. TOSH Organizes Free Online Training on the New Normal New Me to Create Safety Awareness and Action

           The Deputy Labour Minister invited companies to develop the potential for safety at work online, supporting a new and free way, focusing on developing the organizational potential to practice.            On February 17, 2021, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat revealed that the Thailand Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Public Organization), or TOSH, organized a seminar in an online format between February 23-24, 2021, under the concept of creating a Forward Culture of Prevention for Safety Thailand 2021. Labour Minister Reports Migrant Workers Applications of the Three Nationalities and Legal Action Against Illegal Workers

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the number of migrant worker applications from the three nationalities, following the Cabinets resolution on December 29, 2020. After closing the registration system at midnight on February 13, 2021, it appears that from January 15, 2021, a total of 654,864 migrant workers submitted their profile on the list. The workers must be screened for Covid-19 and store their personal identity data by April 16, 2021. Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Deliver Speech to Thai Workers Traveling to Work in the Israeli Agricultural Sector

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned his Advisor to give a talk to 210 Thai workers traveling to the agricultural sector in Israel under the Thailand-Israel Cooperation for Employment (TIC) Program. Labour Minister Reports Cabinet’s Approval to Extend Foreign Workers’ Health Examination and Visa Applications for 6 Months

          The Cabinet approved an extension for the health examination period and applications for permission to stay in the Kingdom as a special case for foreigners according to the Cabinet’s resolution on August 20, 2019, August 4, 2020, and November 10, 2020. According to the Cabinet resolution on December 29, 2020, the approval also covers foreigners and adds guidelines on allowing detained foreigners to work with an employer with intentions to hire.           Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that the new wave of Covid-19 outbreaks that have continued from the beginning of 2020 has spread across many areas and affected foreigners’ work management process. Cabinet Approves Reduced Contributions Rates for 2 Months and Extends Foreign Workers’ Stay under MOUs for 6 Months

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the Cabinet’s resolution to reduce the rate of contributions for insured persons under Sections 33 and 39 for two months (February and March 2021) to alleviate suffering Covid-19 impacts. He also reported extending the health checkup period for foreigners working under MOU arrangements. The term of employment is for two years, with permission to stay in the Kingdom under special circumstances.           On January 26, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that today, the Cabinet passed a resolution to consider and approve proposals by the Ministry of Labour regarding amendments to the Ministerial Regulation, setting the rate of contributions to the Social Security Fund, B.E. 2020.           The Cabinet approved special exemptions for migrants of the three nationalities (Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar) to stay in the Kingdom and work legally, under the new wave of the Covid-19 outbreak to resolve the issue of labour shortages and avoid importing foreign workers from neighboring countries.           On December 29, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the new wave of the Covid-19 outbreak, which has found many infections among many Thai and foreigners.           Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin held a meeting to prepare guidelines on the management of foreign workers, resolve the issue of unregistered foreigners escaping quarantine, and help employers/companies hire foreign workers legally.           On December 25, 2020, at 09.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin chaired the meeting to prepare guidelines for foreign workers’ management to present to the Cabinet. The meeting took place at the Tri Thep Meeting Room 2, 14th floor, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour. The Foreign Worker Management Policy Committee Meeting No. 5/2020 on December 23, 2020, agreed on the principles of the management of the work of foreigners within the country, as proposed by the Secretary Department.
