          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gave his condolences to the deceased’s relatives and showed concern for the employees injured in the fire within Krisda Nakhon Village 31, Borommaratchachonnani Road. MOL Commences Project to Raise Enforcement Level on Labour and Criminal Laws to Address Issues of Child Labour, Forced Labour and Human Trafficking for Sustainable Change

          On March 23, 2021, at 09.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Niyom Songkaew presided over the project to raise the level of enforcement on labour laws and criminal laws to address the issue of child labour, forced labour, and human trafficking for sustainable change (Atlas Project Generation 2) at Anantara Siam Rajadamri Hotel, Bangkok. The program is organized for labour inspectors and investigative officers to support the investigation for the second generation of child labour, forced labour, and human trafficking cases under the ATLAS program. The initiative is supported by the US Department of Labour and Winrock International. The workshop aims to promote knowledge and develop target groups’ potential, namely staff working in solving issues in child labour, forced labour, and human trafficking from various relevant departments. Faculty speakers presented knowledge on the definition of child labour, forced labour, and human trafficking within the legal framework and international standards, including guidance on how to identify, prove, and separate victims of child labour, forced labour, and human trafficking. Permanent Secretary as ASEAN Leader Makes Statement on the ILO Stage

            On March 23, 2021, at 19.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, as the head of the Thai government delegation and regular members of the governing body, the highest executive committee of the International Labour Organization (ILO), along with Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Pattraporn Samatrat, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and relevant officials joined the 341st Session of the Governing Body via teleconference, held between March 15 to 27, 2021, from the headquarters of the International Labour Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.             At 20.30 hours, local time in Thailand, the Permanent Secretary of Labour made a statement on behalf of the ASEAN Government on the agenda of the ILO Centenary Declaration for the Future of Work proposals for including safe and healthy working conditions in the ILO’s framework of fundamental principles and rights at work. MOL Trains New Temporary Employees in Overseas Labour Offices for the 2021 Fiscal Year

          On March 23, 2021, at 14.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol presided over the opening ceremony of a training project for temporary employees at overseas Labour Offices for 2021, organized as in a teleconference format.           Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol spoke about the Ministry of Labour’s foreign policy, especially measures to promote Thai workers to work abroad by maintaining the same job market in foreign countries, promoting short-term employment, and expanding to new overseas labour markets. Labour Minister Shows Pride for “Section 33 We Love Each Other” Project with First Payment Supporting over 11.441Bn Baht to Circulate the Economy

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklim reported the progress of the “Section 33 We Love Each Other Project”. The first installment of 1,000 Baht was already transferred. A total of 5,720,967 people clicked to join the project or 77% of the eligible recipients. The program injects money into the system and benefits workers, valued at 5,720,967,000 Baht, resulting in short-term cash flow in the economy, worth more than 11,441 million Baht.           On March 22, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the progress of the “Section 33 We Love Each Other Project” after the first installment of 1,000 Baht was paid today (March 22, 2021) to eligible insured persons under Section 33. The information as of March 22, 2020, at 8.00 hours, found that 5,720,967 people have already joined the project or 77% of those who received the rights. The program injects money into the system and benefits workers, valued at 5,720,967,000 Baht. Workers Happy to Receive the First 1,000 Baht

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklim reported that insured persons under Section 33 would receive the first installment of 1,000 Baht today (March 22, 2021) through the ‘Pao Tang’ application. The second, third, and fourth installments will be transferred on March 29, April 5, and April 12, respectively. He emphasized that insured persons must purchase products and services within May 31, 2021.           On March 22, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklim reported that today (March 22, 2021), insured persons under Section 33 would receive the first installment of 1,000 Baht following the “Section 33 We Love Each Other” project. MOL Hosts Meeting to Analyze Internal and External Environment (SWOT) for Strategic Positioning and Draft Labour Action Plan

          On March 17, 2021, at 09.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, chaired the meeting for the internal and external environment context analysis (SWOT) to analyze strategic positioning and draft a Labour Action Plan (2023 – 2027). The meeting took place at The Emerald Hotel, Ratchadaphisek, Bangkok. The meeting was organized to outline the Labour Action Plan (2023–2027) following the plan at Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3, International Labour Standards, and changing labour contexts, to reflect the conceptual framework and direction of proactive labour work, ready to support labour problems and the development of the country in the future. MOL Joins Conference with UN ESCAP and UN Network on Migration

          On March 11, 2021, at 09.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol assigned Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Pattaraporn Samantarat, to join the virtual roundtable discussion on “Progress made with respect to legal labour migration pathways, fair recruitment, and decent work and challenges.” The discussion reviewed the implementation of international agreements on “The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM)” organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) and the UN Network on Migration. Suchart Chomklin reported that the Cabinet’s meeting on March 9, 2021, approved improvements to the process of submitting rights reviews of the “Section 33 We Love Each Other” project from March 15 to 28, 2021.           On March 10, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin revealed that the Cabinet’s meeting yesterday, on March 9, 2021, approved to revise the rules and procedures for submitting rights reviews for the “Section 33 We Love Each Other” project, as proposed by the Social Security Office.               Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomlin reported the number of registrations of the “Section 33 We Love Each Other” project. From February 21 to March 7, 2021, a total of 8,208,286 people has registered. The next phase opens up registrations for insured persons without smartphones and who have not already registered. Insured persons in this group will need to use their Thai ID card with an embedded smartcard to register for the benefits from March 15-28, 2021.
