On December 23, 2020, at 12.20 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Phairoj Chotikasatian to give a live interview in the “Hone Kra-sae” program, broadcast on Thai TV Channel 3. The interview covered the Ministry of Labour’s measures to prevent and help people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic among foreign workers and company employees. It has requested the cooperation of employers and companies to prohibit foreign workers’ movement into or out of areas at risk of the spread of Covid-19 and to establish the Ministry of Labour’s Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (MOL CCSA) on Monday, December 21, 2020. The Labour Minister met with heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in 21 central provinces to present policies on operating the Co-payment project. He invited 235 employers/companies operating in the central regions to join the meeting to listen to problems and solutions. The Deputy Labour Minister reported that companies participating in the Zero Accident Campaign activities are increasing every year and shared hope that all sectors will be a part of reducing accidents in the workplace. Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat revealed that the Zero Accident Campaign 2020, organized by the Thailand Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Public Organization) or TOSH, is held annually. This year enters its 20th year, bringing principles and concepts from the United States and Japan to adapt to Thailand’s context to promote companies to join the effort in preventing accidents in the workplace. The initiative is based on the idea that accidents involving work-related causes can be prevented by reducing accidents in the workplace to zero. The Ministry of Labour and the ETDA continue digital technology courses to develop community economies and pilot a group of guides on driving the Thai economy. On November 24, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat reported that the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development has cooperated with the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) to create labour knowledge in e-commerce, which will work to help community enterprises, small entrepreneurs, informal workers or unemployed people who are interested in doing business or selling products online, to understand the overview of the upstream to downstream e-commerce processes. The initiative encourages communities to use online tools and technology to communicate with target audiences, promote community products, and sell their products on online platforms to generate income for households. On November 23, 2020, at 09.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol chaired the opening of the creative mindset for government innovation in labour workshop, which took place at the meeting room on the 7th floor, Bangkok Social Security Office Area 3. The training was designed to promote a creative mindset and design thinking among government officials participating in the project. The training included innovative design for organizational management and services to meet the needs of service recipients and stakeholders of the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Labour, through a participatory management mechanism of all relevant sectors.
