On May 3, 2019, at 10.30 hours, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo presided over the opening ceremony for blood donations for foreign workers, in honour of the royal coronation of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn. Pathum Thani’s Deputy Provincial Governor, Mr. Chathip Rujanasri gave a welcoming, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark delivered a report, and the event was attended by the ministry’s executives at Belton Industrial (Thailand), Pathum Thani. The Permanent Secretary of Labour said that the government has focused on resolving poverty in Thailand, defining the 20-year national strategic framework (2017 – 2036) that focuses on Thailand in the next 20 years as a country with stability, prosperity and sustainability. He also gave a testament and gave gifts to boost the morale of Thai workers. Download Images On April 29, 2019, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Somsak Apiwantanakul and committee met Thai workers at KTC Construction and Engineering Pte Ltd, a business in the construction industry, primarily related to civil engineering, basic infrastructure and large machinery. The company is certified by various government agencies of the Singaporean Ministry of Manpower and has worked in the construction of multiple landmarks in Singapore such as Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort and public transportation stations. It has also been employed by Singaporean government agencies such as the Land Transport Authority. At present, 30 Thai workers are industrial and mechanical repair technicians. The Labour Minister signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on the promotion of police officers and families to supplement their occupations, with a pilot on a barber course. The target is for 1,540 people to join the training nationwide. The “Labour Minister’s Assistant” met with Thai workers at the Singapore Office of Labour Affair’s labour service center, in hopes to expand the labour market and develop the skills of Thai workers to advanced technicians, equivalent to supervisory levels. Download Images On April 28, 2019, the Labour Minister’s Assistant, General Amnat Anartngarm, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Somsak Apiwantakul and committee, visited Thai workers at the labour service center of the Office of Labour Affairs in Singapore. There are 20,000 Thai workers working in Singapore at current, mostly in the construction sector, followed by the manufacturing and maintenance ships sector and agricultural sector, respectively. The workers hold a work permit whereas in the services and other industries, workers will hold an S Pass or Employment Pass. Employment of Thai workers in Singapore at present found that industrial changes increased the productivity of production by using technology and innovation to reduce labour intensiveness but increase the efficiency of labour instead. Myanmar nationals traveled the most with 187,053 people, followed by 70,618 Cambodian nationals and 73,227 Laotian nationals.
