Ministry of Labor cooperates in all sectors to send labor back home safely during Songkran

          Today (April 2, 2018) H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, Minister of Labor chaired “The meeting to prepare laborers to return home safely during the Songkran Festival” at the 5th floor of the Ministry of Labor.   Preview Download Images          Today, it is a meeting to urge employers and entrepreneurs to arrange a good leave for employees to return home during Songkran Festival easily and safely. The resolution of the Cabinet on March 27, 2018, to allow the return to the country of origin to participate in the Songkran festival.               The “Permanent Secretary” joined the 335th Governing Body meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, and gave a statement on the ILO stage about the Thai government’s support for workforce freedom and safety.   Download Images              On March 28, 2019, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark and Thai Ambassador and Permanent Representative in Geneva H.E. Mr. Sek Wannamethee as representatives of the Thai government, joined the 335th Governing Body meeting in Geneva, Switzerland. The Thai government joined as a regular member and a coordinator for ASEAN. “Pol.Gen Adul” Meets Thai Technical Trainees and Studies Model on Workplace Safety and Elderly, Women and People with Disabilities Employment in Japan

            The Labour Minister met Thai workers on technical training in Japan and prepared to study models of organizations on safety management, elderly employment systems, supporting employment for women, people with disabilities and organizing childcare facilities.   DOWNLOAD IMAGES               On March 29, 2019, Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo and the Ministry of Labour’s executive committee traveled to meet, inspect, and give words of encouragement to Thai workers on technical training at Exedy Taiyo, in Nayagawa, Osaka, Japan. The deployment of Thai workers for technical training has the objective to allow the workers to learn and practice technical and other skills from Japan and apply them when returning to Thailand. It also raises the level of Thai workers to international standards and supports international cooperation. Foreign Worker and Human Trafficking Committee Waives Border Fees for Migrant Workers Returning Home for Songkran During April 5-30

          The Foreign Worker and Human Trafficking Policy Committee agreed to allow Burmese, Laotian and Cambodian migrant workers to return home for the Songkran Festival 2019 between April 5 – 30 without paying a fee on the border. MOL History

The chronological development of labour administration in Thailand is as follows 1932 The first labour and social welfare policy announcement was made in 1932 when the country changed from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy. One of the six principal policies announced by the new administration was that the people will be supported in earning a living and job opportunities will be provided for everyone. 1933 The employment Act was announced and the Government set up an Employment Service Section in the Registration Division of the Interior Department to administer the Act. 1934 The Employment Service Section was upgraded and renamed Labour Division and transferred to be attached to the Commercial Department, Economic Ministry. 1936 The Labour Division was assigned the additional functions of studying, inspecting, and improving working conditions, as specified in the Labour Investigation Act, 1936. 1938 The Labour Division was downgraded to be a Labour Section. 1940 The Department of Public Welfare was established as a department under the administrative structure of the Office of the Prime Minister in order to promote well-being of the people by way of helping them have proper occupations and earn […]

Police General Adul Sangsingkeo chaired the release of officers working on the examination migrants and organizations, with Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark along with the ministry’s top which also attended this event and the foyer on the ground floor of the Ministry of Labour. The Labour Minister said that the current problem of illegal migrant workers and human trafficking is an issue that the government gives importance to, especially human trafficking which Thailand has tried to resolve and has succeeded in solving to international recognition.
