The Labour Minister Welcomed ILO Director-General Guy Ryder for Collaboration to Improve Quality of Life for Thai Workers

           The Labour Minister welcomed the ILO’s Director-General Mr. Guy Ryder on a visit to Thailand, to tighten cooperation in raising the quality of life of the workforce to international standards.   Download Images            Today (July 22, 2019) at the Labour Minister’s Ministerial Room, 6th Floor, Ministry of Labour, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul welcomed the ILO’s Director-General Mr. Guy Ryder and committee on courtesy call, on the occasion of visiting Thailand as a member of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the ILO’s 100th anniversary. In addition, the visiting party congratulated the Labour Minister on his appointment and membership of the Cabinet. In this visit to Thailand, Mr. Guy Ryder also has the objective of attending the 8th World Education Congress hosted by the Education International (EI), a federation of world-class teachers and educational personnel.          M.R. MOL Employee Welfare Fund Committee Meets No. 7/2019

            On July 22, 2019, at 09.30 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Viwat Jiraphanvanich chaired the meeting of the Employee Welfare Fund Committee No. 7/2019. The meeting considered the amendment of the regulations concerning the receipt, payment and keeping of money of the Employee Welfare Fund, 1999, and the committee regulations on the remittance of money for keeping in the Employee Welfare Fund, B.E 2542 (1999). The meeting also considered sale of bad debts of the Employee Welfare Fund, payment of welfare to employees in cases other than compensation and selecting among the representatives of employers and employee representatives to appoint as an associate judge in the labour court/ The meeting took place at the Mitmaitree Meeting Room 2, 5th floor, Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Ministry of Labour. MOL Committee on ‘Managing, Monitoring and Following Up Operations of the Service Center’ Meets

          Today (June 25, 2019) at 13.30 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suradej Waleeittikul assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-Generals Mrs. Achara Kaewgamchaicharoen to chair the committee meeting on managing, monitoring and following operations on the Ministry of Labour’s Service Center for the second time this year. The meeting considered the provincial labour offices request for budget to improve the service center together with the Ministry of Labour and the establishment of a joint service center for the Ministry of Labour. MOL Investigates Compensation Benefits to Help Sunken Ship Victims in Trat

             The Permanent Secretary of Labour urged agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Trat Province to investigate and monitor fishing crew members who died from wrecked fishing boats in Salad Bay, Koh Kood, Trat., compensating the family and implementing strict safety measures.            On June 21, 2019, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol reported the case of a wrecked fishing boat in Salad Bay area, Koh Kood, Trat on June 18. According to the investigation conducted by the agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Trat province, the ship that was found wrecked was called Chaivaree, boat registration No. 162201702, 40.92 gross tons in size with fishing nets. The owner of the boat was Mr. Witoon Saejeng, with a total of 15 crew members consisting of 2 Thai workers and 13 Cambodian workers. The shop sunk around Salad Bay, Sai Kao Beach, Koh Kood, Trat, whereby the Royal Thai Navy of Region 1, searched to help the crew. Thai Workers in Israel Content with Working in Agriculture Earning Over 40,000 Baht in Salary

            The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and committee visited Thai workers who went to work in agriculture in northern and central Israel and revealed that Thai workers were satisfied with the working and employment conditions and good income, averaging 40,000 – 48,000 Baht per month. MOL Organizes Professional Demonstrations and Trainings for the Public at Sanam Luang in Honour of HM Queen’s Birthday

         On June 3, 2019, at 09.00 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Suradej Waleeittikul; the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Suchat Pornchaiwiseskul, and the ministry’s executives observed public service activities of the Ministry of Labour and gave words of encouragement to the staff. The activities were arranged in honour of Her Majesty’s Queen Suthida’s birthday which took place in Sanam Luang (on the Supreme Court’s side). MOL Homeworkers Protection Committee Meets

            On May 31, 2019, at 09.30 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Viwat jiraphanvanich chaired the meeting of the Homeworkers Protection Committee No. 2/2019. The meeting considered guidelines for the development of the protection system for homeworkers workers in 2020, and reported progress of the draft National Promotion and Development of Informal Workers Act B.E…..the draft Ministerial Regulation on determining the nature or type of work prohibited by from hiring workers to do at home B.E……. the draft Ministerial Regulation regarding the rules, procedures and rates of payment for medical expenses, rehabilitation fees and funeral costs paid by the employer B.E……. The meeting presented the report on the performance of the Homeworkers Protection Committee to the Cabinet, including the results from the recruitment and selection of qualified directors to represent the employer and homeworkers committees within the Homeworkers Protection Committee. “Labour Inspectors” Visit Labour Office in Taiwan

         The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General along with departmental Inspector-Generals visited the Labour Office in Taiwan where they received a briefing from the Minister Counsellor (on labour) and met staff at the Labour Office in Kaohsiung.   Download Images            On May 29, 2019, Mr. Suchat Pornchaiwiseskul, Inspector-General to the Ministry of Labour, the ministry’s team of Inspector-Generals traveled to inspect the Thai Labour Office in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Minister Counsellor (on labour) Ms. Kaewjai Sajjawatha, welcomed the visiting committee and gave a briefing on the performance. On this occasion, the Department of Skill Development’s Inspector-General Mr. Prateep Songlamyong, the Department of Employment’s Inspector-General Mr. Pairoj Chotiksetian and the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Inspector-General Mrs. Sopa Kieatnircha also met and inspected the operations of staff at the Labour Office in Manila (part 2) in Kaohsiung.          The Labour Office in Kaohsiung is responsible for 8 areas, including Kaohsiung, Tainan, Taitung, Zhang, Hui, Chiayi, Yun Lin, Ping Tong and Peng Hu. MOL Conducts Official Inspection in Singapore

          On May 29, 2019, at 10.00 hours, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General (Mr. Todsaphon kritwongwiman) and committee including the Department of Employment’s Inspector-General (Mrs. Napasorn Toongsooksai), the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General (Mr. Sa-nga Wongsapan) and the Department of Skill Development’s Inspector-General) and (Mr. Seela Keotabhand) paid a courtesy call and official discussions with the Thai Ambassador to Singapore (Mr. Manopchai Vongphakdi). The meeting discussed labour issues following the minidstry’s policies including the ministry’s “Thai Kitchen to the World” policy. The Ambassador requested training for skill development such as for cooks, by focusing on quality, refinement, raw material adjustment, language usage and teamwork, whereby the Ambassador was pleased to provide advice to the labour office.     Download Images             The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General presided over the meeting at the Singapore Office of Labour to follow up on the progress of operations following the annual operation plan for the 2019.
