Ministry of Labour Meets to Develop Publicity on People Service Technologies

          Today (February 18, 2019) at 13.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark presided over a meeting to present a model for publicizing the use of technology in the ministry’s services for the people. The meeting discussed the use of technology in providing public services to facilitate the reduction of documents, steps and timing. Each agency under the Ministry of Labour presented the following systems: 1. The Department of Employment promoted employment such as the single window, visa and work permit center, Unemployment Insurance Registration (EMPUI), employment guides, domestic employment services via electronic media systems, Thai labour management abroad, job application through the job box (Job Box). 2. The Department of Skill Development presented applications for skilled labour training and assessments, application for a certification of competence, registration as an appraiser, application for accreditation in payment for training, assessment for contributions to the Skill Development Fund, registration to be an assessment center, test of skill standards in electronic systems (e-Testing), e-Payment systems for payment of fees, DSD Smart Skill & Services application and a technician search engine through the Xarapat application. 3. Cabinet Approves Extension on Contributions Payment in 23 Provinces Amounting 18 Billion Baht

             The Labour Minister reported the Cabinet’s approval to extend the deadline for filing a list of contributions and remittances by employers and the insurer in regions that suffered disasters for three months, from December 2018 to February 2019, as proposed by the Ministry of Labour, accounting for approximately 18 billion Baht.             On February 18, 2019, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo reported that in the Cabinet’s meeting today, the Ministry of Labour proposed a draft of its announcement on the extension of the deadline for submission of remittance and payments of employer contributions and the insurers, in areas that suffered from disasters B.E…. for the Cabinet to approve and declare enforcement. MOL-CU Prepare MOU on National Labour Research Center using Big Data to Support 4.0 Technology

            The Ministry of Labour joins hands with Chulalongkorn University in preparation to sign the cooperation to establish the National Labour Research Center with big data, as the country’s labour management center.             The Labour Minister reported that the Thai Ambassador in Seoul met with Thai workers traveling to work in South Korea through the EPS system showing appreciation for the commitment to learn Korean and ability to pass the assessment, with goals to earn income for the family. MOL Discusses Approach for Thai Fruit Pickers Travelling to Finland

            On February 14, 2019, at 10.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark chaired the commencement of the meeting on ways to proceed about traveling to collect wild fruits in Finland in 2019, at the Tien Achakul conference room, 10th Floor, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour. He said that the meeting was to discuss and listen to comments/suggestions on how to set up guidelines for the operation of Thai workers traveling to collect wild fruit, as it is well known that Thai workers go to Finland to gather wild fruits during the seasons by notifying travel to work abroad on their own. Thai law has the Employment and Jobseekers’ Protection Act B.E. 2528 to protect Thai workers because Thai workers traveling to collect wild fruit abroad is considered working abroad, as the workers are compensated. Labour Minister Welcomes Private Hospital Association in Collaboration to Improve Medical Services

            The Labour Minister welcomed the Private Hospital Association to discuss the upgrading of the health service system to provide insurers in the social security system with easy access to medical treatment. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo welcomed President of the Private Hospital Association, M.D. Pongpat Patanavanich, on a meeting to discuss official issues, requesting the Social Security Office to consider raising medical fees consistent with the burden of costs, number of cases by insured persons and increasing treatment each year, to maintain private hospitals in contract. The effort will ensure that the number of contracted private hospitals does not decrease and therefore insured persons are not affected in their access to medical care services.                The Labour Minister submitted for ratification of ILO Convention 188 on Working in Fishing with ILO Director-General Mr. Guy Ryder. The gesture expressed the Thai government’s intention to raise standards on protection of both Thai and foreign workers onboard fishing vessels to meet international standards.
