Mr. Phumipat Mueanchan, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, revealed that from a field visit to businesses in Surat Thani Province, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, praised Haadthip Public Company Limited, the Punpin Factory, for being a model of a company that takes quality care of the workforce. The company emphasizes “people” as the heart of the organization. It is free of illegal labour, supports the development of vocational skills, and also promotes workers’ welfare according to the principles of the sufficiency economy by aligning to the guidelines of the Ministry of Labour’s Good Labour Project, encouraging employees to have additional income, helps reduce expenses, and creates stability in daily life from growing vegetables, growing rice, and raising fish in the factory area. On September 20, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the payment of remedies to insured persons under Section 40 in the 16 dark red provinces with the highest control, including Nakhon Ratchasima, Rayong, Ratchaburi, Saraburi, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Lopburi, Phetchabun, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Prachin Buri, Phetchaburi, Tak, Ang Thong, Nakhon Nayok, Samut Songkhram, and Singburi. He said that today (September 20, 2021), the Social Security Office would transfer remedies to newly registered insured persons who have paid contributions under Section 40 between August 4 to 24, 2021, for 1.94 million people. Eligible persons will receive 5,000 Baht each. Mr. Suchart emphasized that insured persons who have not received their rights to immediately link their bank account number with their ID card so that the bank can transfer the money to their PromptPay account successfully. On August 20, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the transfer of funds under the relief measures for workers and companies affected by COVID-19 in the 29 highest controlled provinces. He said that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha is concerned about workers, including the self-employed and the public affected by COVID-19, and wants to ensure that they receive relief from the government. Today (August 20, 2021), 361,939 Section 33 insured persons in the remaining 16 provinces, namely Kanchanaburi, Tak, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Prachinburi, Phetchaburi, Phetchabun, Rayong, Ratchaburi, Lopburi, Samut Songkhram, Saraburi, Sing Buri, Suphan Buri, and Ang Thong, will receive cash transfers via PromptPay linked with their ID card number, for 2,500 Baht each. On August 13, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that the Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office has carried out COVID-19 vaccinations. The first dose has been given to over 1.3 million Section 33 insured persons since June 7. The working group on the management and distribution of the vaccine has prepared a vaccination center to serve Section 33 insured persons with the second dose of vaccinations, which will begin on August 16, 2021. All vaccines are AstraZeneca branded. Mr. Suchart said that the second dose of vaccinations would start on August 16, 2021, onwards. Insured persons are divided according to the following vaccination formula. On April 5, 2021, at the Foreign Worker Management Policy Committee Meeting No. 3/2021, the committee approved the extension of the Covid-19 screening period and the collection of biometrics for migrant workers of the three nationalities (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar) from the original deadline of April 16 to June 16. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin said that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, as the Chairman of the Board for the Foreign Worker Management Policy Committee, acknowledged the concerns of employers and business operators regarding foreign workers according to the Cabinet’s resolution on December 29, 2020, together with the Cabinet’s resolution on January 26, 2021.
