The Prime Minister’s Office, therefore, appointed a problem-solving committee. The Deputy Prime Minister or the Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office was assigned by the Prime Minister as chairman, with representatives from relevant government agencies. A subcommittee will coordinate and expedite solutions to the problems for the people for a fair society. It will drive policies in nine areas. There was a resolution to appoint a working group to expedite, monitor, and drive the implementation of problem-solving on state welfare, with the Deputy Labour Minister as the working group’s chair. The Permanent Secretary of Labour is the vice president. Representatives of the People’s Movement for a Just Society and related government agencies joined as a working group.

The Deputy Labour Minister said that Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan cares about the people, especially vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, the elderly, and those with state welfare cards. The meeting today discussed with the working group to expedite the implementation of solutions to government welfare issues and solutions to reimbursements for the elderly living allowances that are redundant with other benefits. The working group has representatives from many ministries involved, such as the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Education, the Department of Local Administration, and representatives from the National Health Security Office for example.

The meeting proposed to amend relevant laws and regulations and passed a resolution approving the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to offer opinions to the Cabinet to consider delaying the recall of the elderly living allowance that is redundant with other benefits. It also considered the remedies for the elderly. In addition, there are other solutions proposed to the meeting for consideration, such as the preparation of Big Data for the people nationwide, with all agencies involved in the people’s welfare as a working group. An appointment order will be drafted and submitted to the committee in each order for a further proposal to the Prime Minister.

The Deputy Labour Minister further said another initiative that will continue to be driven is skills development for people with disabilities. A subcommittee was appointed by the National Vocational Training Coordination Committee (NVTCC) to discuss the budgeting from relevant departments, to jointly develop skills for people with disabilities, including recruitment for people with disabilities. The issues can be expected to be discussed soon.

“The results of this discussion will help address the problem of inequality and social injustice that arises. The working group and I will continually drive the work to maximize the peoples’ benefit,” concluded the Deputy Labour Minister.
