On September 21, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat observed activities to drive Thailand together and issued certificates to people who passed the national skill standard assessments. She also gave certificates of knowledge and ability for those who passed the indoor electrician branch assessments and observed the demonstration and vocational training activities. Member of the House of Representatives, Samut Sakhon, Ms. Jomkhwan Klubbaankoh, Deputy Governor of Samut Sakhon Province Mr. Thirapat Kashmat, Deputy Permanent Secretary Ms. Amphan Tuwwit, the Department of Skill Development’s Inspector-General Mr. Chakrit Decha, and executives from Samut Sakhon also observed the activities on this occasion. The event took place at the Samut Sakhon Skill Development Office.
The Deputy Labour Minister said that she was assigned by Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha to drive the missions of the Ministry of Labour, in an upgrade from a Ministry of Social Affairs to a Ministry of Economy. To achieve this goal, it is important to raise skill standards for the workforce to receive wage rates according to their skill standard. This is a skill development policy under the concept of “create, elevate and give, to build Thailand together” policy. Today, the Deputy Labour Minister had the opportunity to award certificates to people who passed the National Skill Standard Assessment and give letters to those who passed the assessment to certify their knowledge and abilities for indoor electricians. People who work as electricians must have been certified of their knowledge and abilities to work in this field legally. Therefore, she congratulated those who received certificates today as evidence to guarantee that the Thai workers are knowledgeable, capable, and have standard skills, ensuring customers that they will receive good service and are suitable for their wages.
The Deputy Labour Minister said that the Department of Skill Development has conducted several branches of the National Skill Standard Assessment, not only the field of electricians but also including welders, home, and small commercial air conditioner technicians. These professions must also have the same credentials as an electrician. Such a certificate will help build confidence among the people, customers, and the public, that the services are safe in all aspects. This includes professional technicians, to be protected and receive fair wages that are appropriate for their knowledge and ability, and that everyone takes a share of responsibility for public safety.
In addition, the Deputy Labour Minister was the representative of the grant or support from the Skill Development Fund to organizations that supports the development of skills for their employees for over 70 percent of their workforce. The Samut Sakhon Social Security Office selected the eight organizations. Prof. Narumol also presented the “Mother’s Milk Corner” label to organizations that provide welfare to employees totaling six companies. She then visited the automation training demonstration career and observed training for embroidery worker groups, and homeworker groups in Ban Khok Kham tie-dye, and fabric weaving of bags and baskets with plastic threads by the elderly. She also observed a demonstration of “Mother’s Milk Corner” and health check-up services to people who attended the event today.
