The Deputy Labour Minister revealed a readiness to support skills development for the elderly and ethnic groups to create a community career and drive border trade.
On September 12, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Deputy Permanent Secretary Ms. Amphan Tuwwit, and the Department of Skill Development’s Director-General Mr. Tawat Benchatikul visited and gave words of encouragement to a group of 50 elderly people who have passed skills development training and was promoted to work under Ministry of Labour’s departments such as embroidery, bamboo products processing, making products for use, food processing for fruit wine and decorations from waste materials, at the Baan Sankong Community Learning Center, Moo. 2, Mae Rai, Mae Chan, Chiang Rai.
The Deputy Labour Minister said that the Ministry of Labour has a mission to promote employment, develop skills and the workforce potential, to provide workers with stable income. The elderly group is part of the workforce that can promote and develop its potential. Therefore, the skill training program for the elderly has been implemented to increase employment opportunities and provide the elderly with a good quality of life, employment, income, and create value for the elderly, both physically and mentally, are a proud part of the family and the nation.
The Deputy Labour Minister added that even though trained elderly groups are already earning a career, they still need skill development, especially embroidery with many patterns, which will enable them to build new products from embroidered cloth and learn more ways to embroider fabrics. This will allow them to expand their designs and sales, leading to a higher income career.
In addition to the elderly who have come to learn and train in embroidery, ethnic workers Are also interested in training and learning at this training center. The government gives priority to government services access to reduce social disparities. Therefore, skills development for ethnic workers who wish to work in the border trade area or create career opportunities for an additional career is an interesting group of workers. They should be allowed to have full access to those services and can also help resolve labour shortages. In this regard, the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development will work with the relevant network partners to organize training courses to meet the needs and result in more operational success.
