MOL Commences Policy Dialogue on “Developing and Driving Policy Proposals for the Health of Migrants who are not Protected Among Domestic and Agricultural Workers”

                The Permanent Secretary of Labour commenced the policy dialogue on “developing and driving policy proposals for migrants’ health who are not protected among domestic and agricultural workers.” The dialogue was organized by the Faculty of Humanities from Chiang Mai University, under the support of the Health Promotion Foundation project, which emphasizes that workers will receive employment protection and access to fair health services.

                On September 13, 2020, at 09.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol commenced the policy dialogue on “developing and driving policy proposals for the health of migrants who are not protected among domestic and agricultural workers.” The dialogue was organized by the Faculty of Humanities from Chiang Mai University, under the support of the Health Promotion Foundation project. Advisory Board Member to the Labour Minister Mr. Manat Kosol, Deputy Director-General, Department of Labor Protection and Welfare Mr. Anan Bowonaowarat, the Labour Direction Committee, Health Promotion Foundation migrant domestic and agriculture worker groups, informal worker groups as well as labour and civil society organizations working on labour issues, attended the event, totaling 77 participants. The occasion took place at the Prof. Nikom Chandravithu meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour.

                Mr. Suthi said that the policy dialogue was designed to develop and drive policy proposals for migrant workers who are not covered by the employment law, to ensure protection and access to fair health services, and to achieve revisions to related policies through cooperation mechanisms for government agencies, employers, workers, and civil society organizations on labour.

                “The Ministry of Labour is determined to take care of and protect all workers. Therefore, if there are guidelines for revising the relevant policies through cooperation mechanisms for government agencies, employers, workers, and civil society organizations on the protection of migrant workers in domestic and agricultural work, including other groups, the Ministry of Labour is ready to accept proposals and work with various groups in the future,” the Permanent Secretary of Labour concluded.
