Deputy Prime Minister Orders the Five Leaders of Labour to Integrate and Support Workers in the Eastern Region

            The Deputy Prime Minister visited Rayong to hand over the policy to heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in 5 provinces. The efforts aim to accelerate the drive to raise the skill level of workers, promote employment, expedite the payment of unemployment benefits to those affected, prevent the spread of Covid-19 among foreign groups and to pay attention to the safety of workers to gain legal rights.

            On August 24, 2020, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan presided over the delivery of policies and operational directions to heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour, in Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat provinces. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gave a welcoming. PermDeputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat, anent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the welcoming at the Workers Rehabilitation Center, Region 2, Rayong. The Deputy Prime Minister said that the head of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour, labour volunteers and all officials play an important role in driving and developing the foundation of the economy at the local and national level. The workforce is another group affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. He thanked the participants for taking measures to help and heal the affected workers, including informal and foreign workers. Rayong is part of the EEC area that needs to accelerate to improve the development of labour skills to foster multi-skill characteristics. He asked all government agencies to jointly the employment that is suitable for the potential of the workforce.

            General Prawit presented policies to emphasize additional work on various issues: 1) To integrate human trafficking prevention and mitigation functions, especially to address problem of fishing workers and to raise the level to Tier 1. 2) Upgrade skills by upskilling and reskilling towards creating skillful workers following the needs of businesses. This will facilitate job matching that is suitable for the potential of the workforce and support high technology in the workplace. 3) To integrate the departments under the Ministry of Labour in the region. 4) Expedite the payment of unemployment benefits to affected insurers quickly and completely. 5) Monitor and prevent of the spread of infection among migrant workers and prepare work following the guidelines for the management of foreign workers from the three nationalities (Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar), allowing them to work until March 31, 2022. The total is 741,636 people. 6) To be aware and pay attention to safety and supervision of workers to have legal rights; If workers are injured or disabled to urgently take care, help and rehabilitate the workers to return to work to their fullest capabilities.
