Labour Leaders Thank and Give Encouragement to PM and Deputy PM Through Labour Minister For Their Support During Crisis

          On August 18, 2021, labor leaders led by President of the Thai Taxi Association, Mr. Witoon Naewpanich, President of the Thai Restaurant Association, Mrs. Thaniwan Kulmongkol, and Chairman of the Bangkok Street Hawker Club, Ms. Yada Phornpetchrampha, met Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin to give souvenirs to thank Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan and Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, on the occasion of supporting the three labour groups, who were affected by COVID-19. The occasion took place at the foyer on the ground floor, Ministry of Labour. The Ministry of Labour’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayawong, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics) Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion.
          President of the Thai Taxi Association, Mr. Witoon Naewpanich, said that he has always been a leader of the taxi association and has presented matters to the Prime Minister and many ministers, including submitting a letter of assistance. For the Ministry of Labour, the association wants taxi drivers to apply under Section 40. The Labour Minister acknowledged the matter and will be engaged in solving the problem. Some support has already been given; in particular, rice and dry foods were given to almost 10,000 taxi drivers to alleviate the impact of COVID-19. He said that he acknowledges the Labour Minister’s big mission to take care of the workforce and therefore came to support Labour Minister Mr. Suchart today.
          Chairman of the Bangkok Street Hawker Club, Ms. Yada Phornpetchrampha, said that today, the Bangkok Hawker Club came to thank the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan and came to support Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin. She said that her group is at the grassroots and vulnerable, and they had the opportunity to participate in the “Shops to Workers Sharing Project” to prepare lunch boxes for worker camps. She said that the group could see efforts that support them and therefore want to show the public that they are encouraging and protecting good people working for the nation.
          President of the Thai Restaurant Association, Mrs. Thaniwan Kulmongkol, thanked the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime MinisterGeneral Prawit Wongsuwan for caring about restaurant operators impacted from COVID-19. They also thanked Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin for quickly addressing the problems himself, as many restaurant operators had to close their businesses. She said that she was delighted to be supported by the state to keep businesses running. Today, she joined the occasion to encourage the Labour Minister to continue to work to benefit the workforce.
