Content Description

September 4, 2025, 13.30 hours, Nonthaburi – Mr. Pongkawin Jungrungruangkit, Labour Minister, assigned Mr. Jakkrapong Sumetchotimetha, Advisor to the Labour Minister, to preside over the opening of the project “United S-Generation” under the theme “Safety Network: For the Future of Thailand’s Safety.” The initiative aims to enhance collaboration on labour safety networks and to drive forward Thailand’s Safety Thailand agenda. The event was attended by Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Sakdinart Sontisakyothin, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, and senior executives of the Ministry of Labour at Hall 8, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Centre, Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi Province.

Mr. Jakkrapong Sumetchotimetha, Advisor to the Labour Minister, emphasised that promoting occupational health, safety, and working environments is a key policy directly linked to workers’ quality of life. The Ministry of Labour has continuously advanced the Safety Thailand programme through strict law enforcement, knowledge development, and strengthening of network mechanisms with the goal of reducing serious occupational accidents.

He further noted that as Thailand transitions into a digital and AI-driven society, the economy is becoming increasingly competitive, leading to significant changes in work patterns and the emergence of new forms of employment. These factors directly affect safety management, requiring systematic adaptation to keep pace with change.

The strengthening of labour safety networks (Safety Network) is therefore a crucial mechanism to embed a safety culture across all levels, within enterprises, communities, regions, and partner organisations. The emphasis is on active participation from all sectors: government, state enterprises, private companies, labour organisations, and the public.

“Safety development cannot be achieved in isolation; it requires the power of networks at both local and national levels. The United S-Generation initiative will play a vital role in mobilising collaboration from every sector to raise labour safety standards in Thailand. Building a culture of safety is not only about complying with laws but also about ensuring a better quality of life for workers in every occupation,” concluded Mr. Jakkrapong.

Lt. Cdr. Saroj Khomkhai, Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, added that the United S-Generation project under the theme “Safety Network: For the Future of Thailand’s Safety” aims to empower networks, create platforms for knowledge exchange, and enhance the capacity of safety practitioners nationwide. The focus is on “S-Generation” members, defined as individuals or organisations with the following qualities: Sincere, Smart, Social Mind, and Synergy. The network brings together safety representatives, government and private sector agencies, safety experts, and labour organisations to share knowledge and disseminate it across regional, provincial, and sectoral safety networks. The initiative seeks to raise awareness and instill a safety mindset to reduce workplace accidents and occupational diseases. The event also featured panel discussions on key topics, including: Keeping Pace with Global and ASEAN Developments through Convention No. 155, Applying AI to Enhance Occupational Safety and Health, Legal Frameworks on Workplace Safety, and Strategic Directions for Driving the Safety Network for Thailand’s Future.
