Labour Minister Shows Concern for People with Disabilities and Assigns Advisor to Chair Meeting Before Visiting the Area to Assess Employment Suitability

On October 20, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, presided over the “Employment Promotion for Persons with Social Disabilities under Section 35” to discuss ways to help people with disabilities in the area to have jobs, earn an income, and enter the society with dignity and equal rights, not leaving anyone behind. The meeting took place at the Khao Yoi District Office, Phetchaburi Deputy Governor of Phetchaburi Province Ms. Ekarat Nakhakong, DProvince. eputy Phetchaburi Provincial Public Health Doctor Mr. Boonlarp Thipchan, and Heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchaburi Province also participated in the occasion. Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha gives importance to promoting employment for vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan and Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin places emphasis on promoting employment, occupation, and income, which is to assist workers, especially those with disabilities who have potential and want to work, to be able to do so, to help and take care of themselves. The nature of the jobs is to work for social services or communities in the area, where there is no need to travel far from home to work.

          Mrs. Thiwalrat continued that, “This support includes the private sector in hiring and government agencies in providing jobs such as educational institutions, temples, schools, and hospitals. The effort is an integration to create opportunities for people with disabilities to have jobs, sustainable income, and to be able to enter society equally. The promotion of employment for the socially disabled is an important policy by the government which has been assigned to the Ministry of Labour. The Department of Employment has accelerated the support and care for people with disabilities who have potential and the desire to work. Such initiatives require the public and private sectors to support employment. This is an important matter to promote and develop the quality of life, creating opportunities and income that is appropriate and sustainable income.”

          In the afternoon, the Labour Minister’s advisor, along with the heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchaburi Province, visited the “Employment Promotion for Persons with Social Disabilities under Section 35” project area to assess the suitability of employment according to the disability for seven households. On this occasion, Cal-Comp Electronics Thailand PCL supported the right to employ a total of 125 persons with disabilities, comprising 65 positions for people with social disabilities and 60 persons requiring other assistance, totaling 14,280,625 Baht.
