MOL Joins 20 Ministries in Promoting Exercise and Good Health

          The Ministry of Labour joined hands with 20 ministries and 4 government agencies to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in promoting exercise, sports, and recreation, to develop a healthy workforce.
 
 
          On December 4, 2019, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol assigned Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Niyom Songkaew, joined the opening ceremony of “Power UP, harmonizing energy, exercise and promoting health,” a project to promote exercise, sports, and public recreation. The MOU was signed between 20 ministries and 4 government agencies. The occasion took place at the Prince Room 3, the Prince Palace Hotel, Bangkok. Tourism and Sports Minister Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakan presided over the opening ceremony.
          This Memorandum of Understanding was created to show the intention of cooperation in promoting exercise, sports, and recreation of the people, following the master plan under the national strategy 2018 – 2037 on the potential of sports and sub-plans for promotion of exercise, sports, and recreation. The efforts aim to get Thais to exercise, play more sports and recreation regularly. The scope of cooperation is in promoting exercise and sports by allowing all government agencies and educational institutions to provide sports stadiums and exercise facilities for children, youth, and the general public to exercise, supporting personnel in all departments, both public and private, and in educational institutions to acquire knowledge and skills for exercising and playing sports. The initiative promotes physical and sports activities in every department, supporting the development of sports talent and excellence, as well as promoting recreation, creating knowledge, and understanding for people to see the importance of recreation as a way of life.
          The scope of cooperation related to the Ministry of Labour is to develop government personnel to receive knowledge, skills, exercise, and play sports. It will promote the transfer knowledge and skills, promote the organization of exercise and sports activities in all departments, and support sports talent development to excellence. It will also jointly support the development and enhancement of recreational potential following the strategy of the Recreation Action Plan Phase 3 (2020-2022) to drive the linkage with the 6th National Sports Development Plan (2020-2022), which is in the process of being proposed to the National Sports Policy Committee and the Cabinet for approval.
