Permanent Secretary of Labour Emphasizes Officials’ Awareness on Missions and Duties in Serving the People on Basis of Morality

                The Permanent Secretary of Labour emphasized for the Ministry of Labour officials to be aware of the mission and duties assigned to serve people on the basis of morality, ethics, honesty, and lawfulness according to the prescribed guidelines, by adhering to the principles of good governance.

               Today (August 5, 2020) at 08.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol presided over the commencement ceremony of the Ministry of Labour’s training project to drive the Zero Tolerance & Clean Thailand project. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Surapol Ploysook gave a report, whereby Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the event which took place at the Emerald Hotel, Ratchadaphisek Road, Bangkok. Mr. Suthi Sukosol said that the “National Strategy on Prevention and Suppression of Corruption Phase 3 (B.E. 2560 – 2564) has set targets for a Zero Tolerance & Clean Thailand. In the future, Thailand will aim to be a country with moral standards, creating a society that does not tolerate corruption. The Ministry of Labour, as a government agency, must drive this strategy towards tangible results, by fostering and developing personnel to understand morality, ethics, and discipline, as well as foster such personnel to be aware of their assigned duties, to serve people on the basis of morality, ethics, honesty and lawfulness according to prescribed guidelines. By adhering to good governance principles, it will promote the Ministry of Labour to be transparent and corruption-free, capable of driving the mission to achieve the goals.”

                Mr. Surapol Ploysook added that “Corruption is a chronic problem in Thai society. Therefore, it is imperative that all sectors work together to solve such problems and build awareness of morality, ethics, discipline, and honesty, especially the government sector, which is responsible for driving government policies and serving the people. Building a good conscience in the service of government officials or staff is key. Therefore, the concept, attitude, and promotion of knowledge used in the work should be developed, along with morality, ethics, discipline, and honesty. The executives of the Ministry of Labor have foreseen the importance of this matter.”

                “This seminar focuses on government officials and officials under the Ministry of Labour’s agencies. It fosters knowledge and understanding about promoting morality, ethics, sufficiency, discipline, volunteering, and acknowledging the rules and regulations of work. Such efforts will increase the efficiency of the training cost management and practical guidelines for preventing fraud risks in order to boost awareness of corruption. The training is honoured by lecturers from various departments including Former Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet, Moral Center (Public Organization), Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission and the Comptroller General’s Department. The lecturers will jointly transfer knowledge to change thinking and behavior in work for the 150 civil servants and officials under the Ministry of Labour who participated in the session.”
