On November 17, 2021, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong visited the area to monitor and listen to the performance and inspect three training courses of the Phang Nga Office of Skill Development (Phang Nga DSD). The courses included coffee business with 20 trainees, English training for remote working with 20 trainees, and the cleaning and maintenance of home air conditioners with 15 trainees. On November 17, 2021, at 08.45 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud chaired the workshop to prepare an action plan on the management of informal workers for 2023 – 2027 at the Jompol P. Pibulsongkram Conference Room, 5th Floor, Ministry of Labour Building. The meeting was held to serve as a framework for driving the implementation of the promotion, protection, and development of informal workers. The key items to determine the direction on implementing three strategies were: 1) Strengthening social security and expanding coverage. 2) Strengthening the potential of informal workers for work. 3) Enhancing the management capacity of informal workers. On November 12, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, to visit the area to give benefits to compensate for the lack of income of 2,400 Baht per month for life and compensation for the insured persons under Section 39 of 10,000 Baht. The compensation was provided to Ms. Busakorn Charoenchai, 48 years old, a Section 39 insured person who is disabled and handicapped from being blind in both eyes. Meanwhile, the country’s export sector has been able to move forward through various measures by the government and the Ministry of Labour, maintaining employment levels to support the economy to continue to drive forward.n Although many social trends are concerned that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will cause many people to lose their jobs when looking at the unemployment situation from the Ministry of Labour’s database, the data does not indicate that the unemployment situation is as problematic as one might think.
