Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin donated two sewing machines to Ms. Pannee Phuekhoi, suffering from occupational challenges. The donation was made on the occasion of presiding over the campaign’s launch to raise awareness of the Social Security Section 40 at Bang Saen Beach, Saensuk Subdistrict, Mueang Chon Buri District, Chonburi Province. Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Suthep Chitayawong, Assistant Minister from the Prime Minister’s Office performing duties for the Ministry of Labour Police Major General Nantachat Supamongkol, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics) Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, Advisory Board Members to the Labour Minister Mr. Suthi Sukosol, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, the Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Deputy Provincial Governor of Chonburi Mr. Tawatchai Srithong and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion. Mr. Suchart said that the donation of the two sewing machines was to those suffering from occupational challenges, aimed to promote careers and provide work at home. This is because people suffering from occupations have requested help from the Ministry of Labour. The Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan is concerned about the workforce, including informal workers who have occupational difficulties. The Ministry of Labour was instructed to help by promoting occupations, to have a career, a job, and a sustainable income. Therefore, he assigned the Chonburi Provincial Employment Office by Mr. Sipmuenchai Phothisin to meet Mrs. Pannee Phuakhoi, residing at 166/ 117 Soi 19, Bang Saen Sai 2 Road, Saensuk Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chonburi Province, to coordinate. He found that the suffering people and their families engaged in sewing and sending orders, earning an income of about 20,000 Baht monthly. However, she faced health problems with cerebral vascular constriction. Therefore, she had to sell her sewing machines and professional equipment. At present, her condition has improved, and she is still working in tailoring. But she can only get requirements, provide designs, cut the fabric, and then send it to someone else to sew. Her average income is about 3,000 Baht monthly, which is not enough to support the family. She requested support for a sewing machine to increase her family income. The requestor has sewing skills, and with a sewing machine, they would earn more, and people in the family would have a job. The support with the purchase of the two sewing machines will enable a better future for Ms. Pannee Phuakhoi to be a member of the Home Workers Fund of the Department of Employment and can borrow money from the fund to work at home for further business expansion.
People who work at home are considered informal workers and self-employed persons who can become voluntary insured persons (Section 40). They will receive coverage and other social security benefits according to the number of contributions.
