MOL Organizes Free Safety Training for Over 10,000 Workers to Reduce Accidents in the Workplace

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin revealed that employers, workers, and partners of the workplace safety network in all sectors thanked the government and the Ministry of Labour for organizing a training program on occupational safety. The training aims to help reduce accidents and injuries in the workplace and build awareness of preventive occupational safety measures. Labour Leaders Thank the government and MOL for Remedies From the “Section 33 We Love Each Other” Project

          Labour leaders reported that the workers thanked the government and the Ministry of Labour, including Krung Thai Bank, for facilitating registration for receiving remedies under the “Section 33 We Love Each Other” project. Labour Minister Delighted for Almost 8 Million Registrations to “Section 33 We Love Each Other” Project in First Five Days Accounting for Over 90 Percent of Eligible Persons

           Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomlin was delighted that the “Section 33 We Love Each Other” project has seen a continual rise in online registrations through the first five days. To date (February 26, 2021, at 08.00 hours), a total of 7,909,258 people have registered, which is close to 8 million. The registrations account for over 90 percent of all eligible persons. The Labour Minister insisted that the SSO already has a database of employers and individual employees and assured that insured persons under Section 33 do not worry about lost information. For insured persons who are still unable to register, the system will open for a rights review on March 15. Labour Minister Reports Migrant Workers Applications of the Three Nationalities and Legal Action Against Illegal Workers

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the number of migrant worker applications from the three nationalities, following the Cabinets resolution on December 29, 2020. After closing the registration system at midnight on February 13, 2021, it appears that from January 15, 2021, a total of 654,864 migrant workers submitted their profile on the list. The workers must be screened for Covid-19 and store their personal identity data by April 16, 2021. Deputy Labour Minister Gives Over 30M Baht in Unemployment Benefits to Body Fashion Employees Terminated from Covid-19

          Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan gave unemployment benefits to employees of Body Fashion (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Nakhon Sawan branch. The company laid off employees due to business closure from the effects of Covid-19. Remedies were provided to 733 people, valued at over 30 million Baht.           On January 28, 2021, at 09.30 hours, at the reception room 1, Command Building 1, Government Houses, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan presided over the delivery of unemployment benefits to employee representatives of Body Fashion (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Nakhon Sawan branch. Cabinet Approves Reduced Contributions Rates for 2 Months and Extends Foreign Workers’ Stay under MOUs for 6 Months

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the Cabinet’s resolution to reduce the rate of contributions for insured persons under Sections 33 and 39 for two months (February and March 2021) to alleviate suffering Covid-19 impacts. He also reported extending the health checkup period for foreigners working under MOU arrangements. The term of employment is for two years, with permission to stay in the Kingdom under special circumstances.           On January 26, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that today, the Cabinet passed a resolution to consider and approve proposals by the Ministry of Labour regarding amendments to the Ministerial Regulation, setting the rate of contributions to the Social Security Fund, B.E. 2020.           On January 26, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan to visit the Phetchaburi Provincial Employment Office to meet with heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchaburi. The meeting followed up on the employment promotion program’s progress for new graduates by the public and private sectors (Co-Payment) and the progress on the registration of migrant workers of the three nationalities following the Cabinet’s resolution on December 29, 2020. Labour Minister Employs Interpreters/Language Coordinators to Help Staff and Resolve Human Trafficking Among Migrants

          The Labour Minister reported that the Department of Employment had allocated funds for foreign worker management in the 2021 fiscal year, following the Human Trafficking Project in Fisheries from January to September 2021. MOL Joins Meeting on Investigations to Eliminate Illegal Migrant Worker Networks at the Royal Thai Police’s Operation Center

          On December 29, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Political Official at the Secretariat Office of the Prime Minister, performing duties at the Ministry of Labour Police General Nantachat Supamongkol and Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Phairoj Chotikasathian, joined as representative advisors and participated in an investigation to suppress and eliminate illegal migrant networks at the Royal Thai Police’s Operation Center. Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, Police General Damrongsak Kittipraphat chaired the meeting. The meeting notified urgent matters of the Royal Thai Police in the case of infected migrant workers who were smuggled into the city illegally. Therefore, they issued an order to appoint a working group to investigate and crackdown on illegal labour networks, to conduct an effective investigation, preventing the spread of Covid-19.
