MOL Meets on the Management of the Covid-19 Situation

          On April 26, 2021, at 14.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol chaired the meeting on managing the Covid-19 situation at the Sangsingkeaw meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. MOL Joins International Economic Policy Committee Meeting No. 3/2021

        On April 22, 2021, at 09.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol as a representative of the International Economic Policy Committee Meeting No. 3/2021 together with the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Director-General Mr. Apinya Sucharitanan, as a subcommittee and secretary to the subcommittee to drive the implementation of the Cabinet Resolution on the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) on labour. The meeting was in a video conference format and considered the performance of the International Economic Policy Committee, following the Cabinet Resolution on January 26, 2021, and the resolution to conduct an in-depth study over 50 days on various issues that cannot be performed. This includes benefits, effects, and remedies, ensuring caution and publicizing and listening to opinions from stakeholders about Thailand joining the CPTPP. The meeting further informed the preliminary law development committee to acknowledge any laws that need to be resolved urgently. Labour Minister Reveals Cabinet’s Approval to Extend Covid-19 Screening and Biometrics Collection for Two Months

        The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Labour’s proposal to extend the Covid-19 screening period and collect biometrics to June 16, 2021.         Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the assessment on the situation of migrant workers by the Foreign Worker Management Policy Committee found that some may not be able to perform Covid-19 tests and the collection of personal identity information (Biometrics) by April 16, 2021. Therefore, by enabling migrant workers to stay in the Kingdom and work legally, employers/business operators would have workers drive their businesses. Such workers are under the government sector’s supervision to manage the risk of the Covid-19 pandemic and effectively manage workers who are trafficked in the Kingdom. Thus, the Cabinet passed a resolution approving for migrant workers according to the Cabinet’s resolution on December 29, 2020, and resolution on January 26, 2021, to extend the period of Covid-19 screening and personal identity collection (biometrics) from the original deadline of April 16, 2021, to June 16, 64. Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Provide Compensation to Family of Two Insured Persons Who Died from the Building Fire and Collapse in Krisada Nakhon Village 31

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan visited the area to provide compensation for funeral expenses the families of two people who died from the fire at the house building collapse in Krisada Nakhon Village 31, Borommaratchachonnani Road. Labour Minister Proposes Extension on Covid-19 Screening and Biometrics Collection for Migrant Workers until June 16, 2021

          On April 5, 2021, at the Foreign Worker Management Policy Committee Meeting No. 3/2021, the committee approved the extension of the Covid-19 screening period and the collection of biometrics for migrant workers of the three nationalities (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar) from the original deadline of April 16 to June 16.           Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin said that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, as the Chairman of the Board for the Foreign Worker Management Policy Committee, acknowledged the concerns of employers and business operators regarding foreign workers according to the Cabinet’s resolution on December 29, 2020, together with the Cabinet’s resolution on January 26, 2021. Some may not be able to perform Covid-19 tests and the collection of personal identity information (Biometrics) by April 16, 2021. However, public health facilities and the Immigration Offices are ready to complete the service on time. Labour Minister Shows Concern for Fire in Krisda Nakhon Village 31 on Borommaratchachonnani Road and Urges the SSO to Examine Benefits to Help Families of the Deceased and Injured Urgently

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gave his condolences to the deceased’s relatives and showed concern for the employees injured in the fire within Krisda Nakhon Village 31, Borommaratchachonnani Road. He charged affiliated agency officials to urgently help with benefits according to procedures.           On April 4, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the fire that set ablaze at a house, at 138/12, in Soi Anyamanee 17, Krisada Nakorn Village 31, Borommaratchachonnani Road, Sala Thammasop, Thawi Watthana, Bangkok. Family of Insured Person in Phetchaburi Thanks Labour Minister for Supporting with Benefits for People with Disabilities

        Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Social Security Office to assist in compensation for disability and loss of income for relatives of an insured person who was mentally ill. The beneficiaries are villagers living in Moo 3, Tha Yang, Tha Yang, Phetchaburi, and will receive benefits totaling 469,260 Baht.         On April 1, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the case of Ms. Arisa Rattanathiwat, who filed a letter on February 22, 2021, requesting assistance for Ms. Kanthanapat Rodai, the sister of a partner who is mentally ill. The case was evaluated by a doctor who is registered with the Social Security Office of Phetchaburi Province.           On March 26, 2021, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Advisor to the Deputy Labour Minister M.L.            On March 25, 2021, at 15.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin chaired the subcommittee meeting to drive the implementation of the Cabinet’s resolution regarding CPTPP on labour no. 1/2021. Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol also joined the meeting at the Mitmaitree meeting room 2, 5th floor, Department of Labour Protection and Welfare.            Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin discussed the presentation of useful information for preparing the framework, commenced on the readiness and timing of negotiations, or not being ready to join CPTPP.             On March 18, 2021, at 10.00 hours, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Phairoj Chotikasathian presided over a press conference to promote savings cooperatives in establishments and state enterprises. The meeting took place in the Labour Relations Room, 1st floor, Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Ministry of Labour. He said that the Ministry of Labour is scheduled to organize an event to promote savings cooperatives within establishments and state enterprises. The event is scheduled for Monday, March 22, at the Miracle Hotel, Lak Si, Bangkok.
