Chatumongol Sonakul welcomed Thai Ambassador to Tel Aviv, Israel, Ms. Pornnapa Chantararom, to discuss Thai labour issues in Israel. The discussion covered the delivery of workers, traveling to work, caring for workers in Israel, and the acknowledgment of the Ministry of Labour’s policies on labour. The Labour Minister expressed his want for Thai workers returning from Israel to apply the knowledge gained to the country’s agricultural work, and work in Thailand. Labour Minister Awards Diplomas to Trainees in Potential Development Program for Women in the Workplace in Nakhon Ratchasima

        The Labour Minister awarded diplomas to those who completed the training on the potential development of female workers in the workplace in Nakhon Ratchasima province. Labour Minister Assists Employees of Apex in Samut Sakhon with 84 Already Placed in New Jobs

           The Labour Minister reported that an employment agency in Samut Sakhon was in consultation with Sinsakhon Industrial Estate Business Association to assist 147 employees who did not pass their probation period. It concluded new jobs for 84 people, whereby 28 people wished to return to their home provinces, and 35 are in coordination.              On September 25, 2019, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul reported the progress of assisting employees in the case of Apex Circuit (Thailand), Samut Sakhon, which terminated the employment of 147 employees. He said that the Ministry of Labour by the Samut Sakhon Provincial Employment Office had a meeting with the Sinsakhon Industrial Estate Business Association and the human resources department of the company, to find ways to assist. MOL Conducts Workshop on Repatriation of Migrant Workers in Fishing

            On September 20, 2019, at 13.30 hours, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Phattana Phanfak, presided over the workshop on guidelines concerning the repatriation of migrant workers in fishing, under Section 9 and Section 10 of the Fisheries Labour Protection Act B.E. 2560. Myanmar’s Ambassador Discusses Closure of Children Learning Center in Ranong with Labour Minister and Requests Reduction of Visa Fees

          The Labour Minister welcomed Ambassador of Myanmar to Thailand on courtesy call to introduce and discuss labour issues on the closure of the Myanmar Children’s Learning Center in Ranong on August 24, 2019. Myanmar’s Ambassador also requested to temporarily reduce the visa fee for migrant workers applying for stay in the Kingdom from 1,900 Baht / year to 500 Baht / 2 years for the benefit of employers and foreign workers.   Download Images             On September 10, 2019, Labour Minister M.R. “Big Wah” said Thailand is ready to hold the 100th anniversary of the ILO as its co-founder.

          On June 5, 2018, at 11.30 – 12.30, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, Minister of Labor met with Ms. Tomoko Nishimoto, Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific on ILO’s Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the International Labor Organization (ILO). The event will be held on April 11, 2019. It will be broadcast live from 24 countries around the world for 1 hour each and Thailand will be one of them. The format of the event and filming location will be expressed in Thai. The Ministry of Labor stated that Thailand was the first country in ASEAN to be a founding member of the ILO and has been a member of the ILO for the past 100 years. The Ministry of Labor is very pleased to support such activities. The benefits of the activities will help build confidence in the country. Thailand strictly follows the ILO rules. Department of Labor Protection and Welfare revealed 6-year work hazard reduction statistic

           Mr. Ananchai Uthaiwattanachep, Director-General of the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare, revealed that the situation in the past six years has been on the downward trend, especially in the case of serious injury (death, disability, loss of organs and work over three days). In 2012, the rate of harm was 4.49 per 1,000 cases. In 2013, it is 4.00 per 1,000. In 2014, 3.62 per 1,000 cases. In 2015, it is 3.26 per 1,000 cases. In 2016, it is 3.04 per 1,000 cases, and in the year 2017 it is 2.88 per 1,000 cases. Major losses affecting employees, families, societies, economies and national image. Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Samut Prakan to Inspect Foreign Worker Permit Renewals Expiring Before March 31, 2019, after Cabinet’s Approval

         On September 6, 2019, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet and the Department of Employment’s Inspector-General Mr. Suwan Duangta to visit foreign workers’ renewal of work permits (Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar) at the Samut Prakarn Employment Office, to follow up on the process of obtaining a work permit and to stay in the Kingdom. Labour Minister’s Advisor Donates Goods to Help Flood Victims in Phichit

         The Labour Minister assigned his advisor and committee to visit Tap Khlo, Phichit, to distribute relief bags, drinking water, instant noodles, multipurpose bags, necessary goods and utensils needed to alleviate the suffering of people affected by the ‘Podul’ floods.         Today (September 3, 2019), Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet along with the Department of Employment’s Deputy Director-General Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, Tap Khlo District Governor Mr. Wisit Benjapitakul and heads of government agencies and agency representatives from the Ministry of Labour to visit the affected areas, in front of Wat Mongkhol Thap Khlo, Tab Khlo, Phichit. MOL Joins Reception in Japan

          Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suradej Waleeittikul and Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Phattana Phanfak attended a reception organized by the governor of Ehime Prefecture and the mayor of Matsuyama, Japan, on August 31, 2019. The event showcased local art and culture and the city’s renowned products such as towels and oranges. The Minister of Labour had the opportunity to meet with Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Mr. Guy Ryder, Indonesian Minister of Manpower H.E. Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri, representatives from the United States of America and representatives from the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan. Labour Minister’s Advisor Visits Ayutthaya to Promote Knowledge on Labour in Educational Institutions

            Advisor to the Labour Minister visited Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya to commence a project to enhance knowledge about labour in educational institutions, promoting learning at all ages and integration in all sectors, along with counseling for further education for the youths to be able to choose a suitable career in line with the needs of the labour market.
