He emphasized that the Labour Ambassadors from the Labour Office in Seoul coordinate and provide assistance following the procedures. On December 25, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the case where over 30 Thai people in South Korea had tested positive for Covid-19. The Ministry of Labour had received reports by the Minister Counselor (on labour) at the Embassy in Seoul on December 24, located in Cheonan City Municipality, Chungcheongnam Province, the Republic of Korea. The report found that there were 31 Thai people with positive test results for Covid-19. From initial investigation found that the site where the Thai workers were detected positive was a commercial building in the Peang Cheon area, where the second floor served as a Thai restaurant with buffet services, with a snooker table also available. On December 7, 2020, at 15.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Niyom Songkaew to preside over the opening of the “Ministry of Labour’s Joint Service Center Project” at the Grand Ballroom, 8th floor, Eastin Hotel Makkasan, Bangkok. The workshop was organized to create knowledge and understanding of serving people with the Ministry of Labour’s e-Service system to increase labour knowledge to develop public relations skills via online channels. The event was honoured by representatives of the Social Security Office to give lectures on missions provided through the e-Service system and speakers from the Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi. The Permanent Secretary of Labour made a statement on behalf of Thailand on measures to promote human resource development to support the changes from the 4th Industrial Revolution, the change in population structure to an aging society, and the spread of COVID-19. Thailand has implemented various important measures to support affected workers, such as employment measures by government agencies, employment programs for new graduates, promoting STEAM skills, and others, especially digital skills and increasing unemployment benefits, for example. The meeting hosted the key topic on promoting the ASEAN workforce to enhance competitiveness, adaptability, and flexibility in the future of jobs. The Permanent Secretary of Labour made a statement on behalf of the Chair of the ASEAN Committee on the Promotion and Protection of Foreign Workers’ Rights (ACMW) to summarize key performance metrics and new projects under the ACMW Action Plan 2021-2025. Four documents in principle were adopted in labour results to prepare a presentation to leaders for notation at the 37th ASEAN Summit in November 2020.
