MOL Gives Interview on “People Station” Program about “Ministry of Labour Meets the People @ Phuket” Event

           On October 28, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, to give an interview on the “People Station” program on Thai PBS about the “Ministry of Labour Meets the People @Phuket” event, scheduled on November 2, at the gymnasium building, Phuket Municipality. There are interesting activities in the event, including the Phuket Job Fair, where there are more than 30 companies opening booths with 3,000 vacancies, a meeting with new graduates (Co-Payment), an expo on creating a career to earn income, and showcase products and products ready for sale by home workers and independent professional groups, along with training in 6 Andaman provinces, in 69 fields. MOL Committee of Employment Promotion Project for New Graduates by the Public and Private Sectors Meet

         On October 28, 2020, at 13.30 hours, the Ministry of Labour’s Secretary-General Mr. Suthep Chitayavong chaired the Steering Committee’s meeting for the New Employment Promotion Project for New Graduates by the Public and Private Sector (Co-Payment) No. 6/2020. The meeting discussed guidelines for tracking government subsidies from employers and employees and in the event of collusion is found, or either party provides false information. The meeting also covered the payment of wage subsidies to employees. The new employment promotion program for new graduates by the public and private sectors (Co-Payment) cannot be approved in time on October 31, 2020. Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Visit Kanchanaburi to Promote Self-Employment for Stable Income

           Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Secretary-General to visit Kanchanaburi, to give words of encouragement to informal workers and listen to information on labour policy driving. He also met with heads of government agencies and discussed self-employment promotion among elderly groups to have a stable income and support themselves and their families.            On October 15, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan to preside over the visit to encourage informal workers at Ban Nong Sai Sufficiency Economy Learning Center, Nong Sarai, Phanom Thuan, Kanchanaburi. Deputy Labour Minister Visits Amnat Charoen to Promote New Generation of Farmers

          On October 10, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Capt. Thammanat Prompao visited Amnat Charoen to explain the government’s support to farmers, creating career opportunities while waiting for the harvest season and driving new farming practices with technology to reduce work times and improve productivity.           Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat said that agriculture workers play an important role in the country’s economy. There are 68 million people of working-age, 37 million are employed, and 11.47 million people are in the agricultural sector, following the 19.28 million people in the service sector. In Amnat Charoen, there are 117,362 people in the workforce, whereby 114,766 people are employed. From this population, 44,934 people work in agriculture accounting for 39.15 percent. Thus, promoting a stable career and income is an important engine to drive the country’s economy. JOB EXPO Proves a Success with Requests for the Event to Occur Annually

                       Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the results from the JOB EXPO THAILAND 2020, hosted on September 26-28, 2020. The event received 243,566, which are waiting for placement. There were 143,066 applications via employer/company opening job applications at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center, BITEC, 81,412 applications through the Thaimeengarntum.com website, and 3,351 registered persons wishing to work abroad. For the new employment promotion program for new graduates (Co-payment), there are 181,145 remaining positions, with the highest employment demand in production, with 192,291 positions.                         Mr. Suchat said that the overall outcome was very satisfactory. From exhibitors’ feedback, most felt that the event was beneficial, convenient, and saved time. Many government agencies, state enterprises, and private companies arranged booths for recruitment, allowing applications to submit documents and interviews with employers/companies. The exhibitors showed appreciation for the event and requested that the Ministry of Labour hosts it annually.                         The Permanent Secretary of Labour participated in the National Strategy in Action: Integrated Implementation for the THAIS seminar. The session proposed a system to receive reports and monitor the benefits of Thai workers traveling abroad to the Prime Minister.                         Today (September 28, 2020) at 13.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Ms. Pattraporn Samatrat, participated in the seminar for government personnel in designing the National Strategy in Action: Integrated Implementation for THAIS seminar, chaired by Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, at the Santimaitree Building, Government Houses. Deputy Labour Minister Highlights Women Workers Driving the Nation Economically and Socially

                        The Deputy Labour Minister said that women play an important role in developing the country, driving the nation both economically and socially.                         Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat reported that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha emphasized the importance of policy-making on women’s role to create social equality and define a model for the development of women’s leadership in society to have a greater role in driving the economy, society and politics. Furthermore, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan also gives importance to women workers, in terms of protection, support, stability, and income, to improve women workers’ quality of life. Labour Minister Shows Appreciation for Three-Day Job Expo Recruiting Over 240,000 Positions

                        The Labour Minister reported that the Job Expo Thailand 2020, over the three days, had 570 units receive applications. These came from over 120,000 new graduates and the public, with 240,000 vacancies waiting to be filled. Meanwhile, the new graduate employment promotion program had over 1,000 employers join, together with 15,000 graduate students.                         On September 28, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the Job Expo Thailand 2020. Narumol Reports Progress on Skills Development for Over 4.7M Workers to Drive the Nations Economy

                The Deputy Labour Minister reported the number of workers who have passed skills training in the past year, accelerating forward to raise the workforce’s standard, driving the country’s economy.                 On September 25, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat reported the Department of Skill Development’s performance for the 2020 fiscal year, with the set target of 3,827,200 people. A total of 4,728,485 people has gone through skills development, consisting of 136,882 people. The DSD conducted training for and 4,591,603 people through encouraging organizations under the Skill Development Promotion Act B.E. 2545 and amendment No. 2, B.E. 2557. In the DSD portion, there are many interesting projects such as the logistics personnel development project in collaboration with the Thai International Freight Forwarders Association (TIFFA), with 323 new graduates from the undergraduate level, training, and entering the logistics market. Workforce Meeting in Parallel with Job Expo Thailand 2020 in BITEC Bangkok and Co-payment Project (Hiring New Graduates” in “Government Supports, the Private Sector Creates”

                Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan and Deputy Governor of Phetchaburi, Mrs. Wanpen Mangsri, gave a press release in Phetchaburi Province on organizing a workforce meeting in parallel with the Job Expo Thailand 2020, at Bitec, Bangkok. They spoke about the co-payment project (hiring new graduates) where the “government supports, and the private sector creates” employment for 260,000 new graduates. The government encourages graduates from 2019 to 2020, under 25 years of age, with an educational background with a bachelor’s degree, high vocational diploma, vocational certificate, or secondary school qualification, with one year of employment whereby the government support 50% of wages, on the condition of no more than 15% are laid off. The initiative is in line with the government’s policy to accelerate economic recovery after the Covid-19 situation eases, which aims to promote employment for all target groups.
