PM Concerned for Marigot Jewelry Employees in Bang Pu; Instructs Labour Minister to Ensure Support for All Employees

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that the Prime Minister was concerned about Marigot Jewelry (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Bang Pu branch, relocating employees to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya branch. MOL Joins Co-Payment Project Executive Meeting No. 3/2021

         On January 28, 2021, at 13.30 hours, the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayavong, chaired the Co-Payment Project Executive Committee Meeting No. 3/2021. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Phairoj Chotikasathian also joined the meeting. The meeting considered using the remaining budget from the implementation of new employment promotion project for new graduates by the public and private sectors (Co-Payment) for the operating unit (Office of Employment, Bangkok Area 1-10 and Provincial Employment Offices in all provinces) to prepare public relations media and improve qualifications and guidelines for the payment of wages for new graduates who are off work for quarantine due to Covid-19 infection. Labour Minister’s Assistant Visits High-Risk Area in Chonburi to Monitor Proactive Covid-19 Screening

           On January 27, 2021, Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong visited high-risk areas in Chonburi to carry out proactive Covid-19 screening in the workplace for insured employees under Section 33. The proactive Covid-19 screening for employees in the workplace follows the Labour Minister’s policy. Labour Minister Reports Cabinet’s Approval to Extend Foreign Workers’ Health Examination and Visa Applications for 6 Months

          The Cabinet approved an extension for the health examination period and applications for permission to stay in the Kingdom as a special case for foreigners according to the Cabinet’s resolution on August 20, 2019, August 4, 2020, and November 10, 2020. Labour Minister Prepares Proposal to Extend Health Screening Period for Six Months for Cabinet’s Approval

          On January 20, 2021, the Foreign Worker Management Policies Committee approved to extend the screening period for foreign workers by six months, following the Cabinet’s resolutions on August 20, 2019, on August 4, 2020, on November 10, 2020, and on December 29, 2020. The reason is that the new wave of Covid-19 outbreaks has disrupted foreign worker management processes, causing workers to be unable to proceed on time.           Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin revealed that the new wave of Covid-19 outbreaks had broadened the diseases’ spread in many areas. Therefore, the government must increase the concentration of proactive screening among migrant workers, which creates limitations and impacts public health measures resulting in a chain effect.
