MOL Gives Press Conference on Preparations for the Thailand Labour Management Excellence Award 2020

                The Ministry of Labour gave a press conference on the Thailand Labour Management Excellence Award 2020 ceremony to recognize organizations with excellent labour management systems. The organizations will receive a royal award from Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn this September 21, 2020, at the Swissotel Bangkok Ratchada.                 Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol chaired the press conference for the Thailand Labour Management Excellence Award 2020. He said that the Ministry of Labour prioritizes labour protection and ensures workers receive legal benefits and the development of the workforces’ potential and quality of life. This includes promoting employers and employees to jointly develop a labour management system in the workplace, following the provisions of the law and labour standards. Furthermore, it aims for efficient management systems for occupational health, safety and environment, and appropriate labour relations and welfare management systems. Deputy Labour Minister Visits Khon Kaen to Drive Skills Development for Career and Income

                        The Deputy Labour Minister visited and encouraged over 800 people and workers in Khon Kaen. She also acknowledged problems, obstacles, and needs of the people in the area and is ready to continue to develop skills for workers to have a career and generate sustainable income.                         On August 29, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumol Pinyosinwat, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Capt. Thammanat Prompao, Assistant Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Pakin Sommitthanakun, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives met with over 800 people and workers to give words of encouragement. Deputy Labour Minister Meets and Gives Encouragement to Rural Women Silk Group in Khon Kaen Province to Develop Women Workers

                The Deputy Labour Minister visited the Mudmee Silk Community Enterprise Group, Ban Hua Fai, Khon Kaen Province, to develop women workers to have a good quality of life and stability.                 Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Assistant Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Parkin Sommitthanakun and the Ministry of Labour executives, visited the Mudmee Silk Community Enterprise Group, Ban Hua Fai, Por Daeng, Chonabot, Khon Kaen, which is an enterprise group that operates silk weaving, mulberry planting, and cultivates silk. They also grow organic vegetables following the royal initiative and the philosophy of a sufficiency economy.             The group activities were divided into duties. There was a consolidation of shares to finance group operations, supported by both the public and private sectors. The group networked with mulberry cultivators established in the community, sub-district, district level, provincial level, and online, enabling them to add value to their products to build a good reputation. Labour Minister Expresses Condolences to Deceased Worker from Israel in State Quarantine and Five Workers in Saudi Arabi from Covid-19 Infections

                The Labour Minister expressed his condolences for the death of a 39-year-old Thai worker after staying in quarantine to monitor Covid-19 symptoms after returning to Thailand and staying for only one day. The Buriram Provincial Labour Office and agencies in Buriram were ordered to contact relatives for support. The Labour Minister had a teleconference with the Minister Counsellor on Labour about 5 Thai workers in Saudi Arabia who have died from Covid-19 infections. He showed concern for Thai workers and ordered officials to monitor the situation closely.                 Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin shared his condolences for the case of a 39-year-old Thai worker who returned from Israel, who decided to jump from the balcony of a hotel in State Quarantine and died during their stay in quarantine to monitor Covid-19 symptoms, after returning to Thailand for only one day. From a preliminary investigation, the deceased was aged 39, from Buriram. They had traveled to work in Israel with SHMVEL GAMMIL and had worked with the employer for five years and three months since July 2014. M.P. Anusee Visits Chachoengsao to Monitor Labour Impacts from Covid-19

                M.P. Anusee visits Chachoengsao to monitor labour impacts from the Covid-19 situation, as business operators and workers discussed local economic signals after the Covid-19 crisis.                 On August 21, 2020, Spokesperson for the Labour Commission Ms. Anusee Tubsuwan, as chairperson of the subcommittee on policy and legal studies, the House of Representatives, and committee, visited Chachoengsao province to understand how the labour situation was affected by Covid-19. Deputy Provincial Governor Sarawut Kaewkulpricha gave a welcoming, together with agencies under the Ministry of Labour. A briefing was delivered on how to help and remedy those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. From the data, it was found that Chachoengsao had 21 cases of Covid-19 infections; 20 have been cured and one deceased. The province has clear guidelines for preventing infection with respect to migrant workers. Health Volunteers were appointed in companies that hire foreign workers, to communicate and disseminate knowledge on the prevention of Covid-19, with a total of 181 volunteers. MOL Commences Training Program to Support and Create Public Participation for Anti-Corruption in “Labour Eyes” Project

          On July 29, 2020, at 08.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol assigned Academic Labour Advisor Napasorn Toongsooksai to preside over the opening ceremony of the training program to support and create public participation in combating corruption, called “Labour Eyes” activity 2 on developing skills for people and networks of labour volunteers who have been trained in anti-corruption, together with the Ministry of Labour, to boost their skills as an efficient communicator. The training took place from July 29-31, 2020, at the Praewa Room, at the Loft Resort. MOL and Udon Thani Provincial Governor Visit Thai Workers’ Families Facing Disaster in Uzbekistan

The Ministry of Labour deployed the employment team, together with the Governor of Udon Thani to encourage families or Thai workers who have been in contact to return to Thailand, due to issues arising from the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the Republic of Uzbekistan.                    On July 29, 2020, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat as the Ministry of Labour’s spokesperson revealed that the Ministry of Labour received a report from Udon Thani Employment Officer Mr. Mongkol Songkla that it had made a visit, together with Udon Thani Provincial Governor Mr. Nirat Pongsitthaworn and relevant officers, to No. 94, Moo 17, Nongmek Village, Nongmek, Nong Han, Udon Thani. The visit aimed to give encouragement to Thai workers’ families.     On July 29, 2020, at 11.00 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat visited the Ministry of Labour’s booth on the “New Normal, Thai workers under the royal benevolence” at the Sanam Luang area. The event hosted discussions and the exchange of ideas with the visitors to the Ministry of Labour’s booth and those who received professional training, to get free health check-up service. It also provided advice to those requesting various consultations related to the Ministry of Labour. MOL Management of the Foreign Workers Fund Committee Meets

The meeting considered the adjustment of the capital expenditure plan for the management of foreign workers for 2020, requests for fund allocation for the 2020 budget of the Department of Provincial Administration, the request to approve the budget limit to be an expense according to the operation plan of the Management of the Foreign Workers Fund for 2021 and the request for the fee collected under Section 76 (4) of the Emergency Decree on Management of Foreigners B.E. 2560 to be sent to the Management of the Foreign Workers Fund for 2021. Association of Persons with Disabilities of Thailand Discusses Alleviation Measures for Covid-19 Impacted People with Permanent Secretary of Labour

         On July 29, 2020, at 09.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol welcomed the Association of Persons with Disabilities of Thailand to discuss measures to support disabled workers affected by the Covid-19 virus outbreak. The association proposed for the Ministry of Labour to further submit to the government’s National Committee on the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities to accelerate government agencies’ hiring of people with disabilities in the full amount according to the law 8,000 people. It said that the Ministry of Labour should cooperate with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, to improve ministerial regulations on two issues, including the increase of the proportion of government agencies’ employment of the disabled to 2 percent, equal to the average rate that Southeast Asian nations assign to employer or organizations. It proposed that government agencies must pay the minimum wage for a total of not less than 30 days per month, even if hiring a disabled person daily. MOL Promotes Health for Insured Persons within Organizations in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Towards the New Normal

MOL Launches Professional Cooking Training to Help Nakhon Ratchasima Communities Become Entrepreneurs in Overcoming Covid-19

          The Ministry of Labour has moved forward in providing professional training to supplement the curriculum for processing and preserving food in Nakhon Ratchasima province. The project aims to alleviate suffering for those affected by Covid-19, creating jobs and generating income for people in the community to become entrepreneurs in the food business, providing security and stepping beyond Covid-19.                 On July 2, 2020, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawa inspected, visited, and gave words of encouragement to professional trainees, in the project to alleviate suffering from Covid-19, under the Royal Volunteer Project piloted province in Nakhon Ratchasima.
