MOL Organizes Merit-Making Activities for August 2019

         On August 29, 2019, at 07.30 hours, Labour Minister M.R. Labour Minister Partners with Thai Chamber of Commerce to Adjust Wage Rates

         The Labour Minister discussed with the Board of Trade of Thailand and listened to suggestions on the issue of adjusting the wage rate structure of Thai workers as an urgent matter. He emphasized that the adjustment of the wage rate must be following the consideration mechanism of the Wage Committee (tripartite).           On August 28, 2019, at 08.30 hours, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and the ministry’s executive committee, welcomed Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand Mr. Kalin Sarasin and respective executive committee for a meeting to discuss official matters on labour. MOL Summarizes Human Rights Practices of Office of the Permanent Secretary

            The Ministry of Labour met and had a briefing on the evaluation of human rights practices of the Office of the Permanent Secretary, on being visited by the Committee on Monitoring, Considering and Selecting Model Organizations on Human Rights. MOL Joins National Learning Exchange Seminar Under Topic of “Driving the National Strategy on Preventing and Suppressing Corruption Towards a Clear and Clean Thailand for an Anti-Corruption Nation” 2019

                The Department of Skill Development’s Deputy Director-General Mr. Prateep Songlamyong, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Niyom Songkaew, Anti-corruption Operation Center’s staff and labour volunteers/public sector networks, attended a national learning exchange seminar under the topic “driving the national strategy on preventing and suppressing corruption towards a clear and clean Thailand for an anti-corruption nation” for 2019. Labour Minister Shows Concern and Gives Relief for Families of Deceased Workers in Wastewater Treatment Plant in Songkhla

           The Labour Minister showed concern for workers and urged local agencies in the area to investigate and aid the families of the deceased and those who suffered from suffocation from the repair of the wastewater treatment plant in the Songkhla production plant, ensuring rights according to the legal benefits. The Labour Minister reported that if an employee registers for social security, they will be protected according to the benefits specified by the law.            On August 15, 2019, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul showed concerns about the workers who died due to suffocation during repair of wastewater treatment ponds in the latex factory in Songkhla province. The incident resulted in 3 deaths and 1 worker left in severe condition in the ICU. Inspector-General of Labour Conducts Official Inspection in Udon Thani and Nong Khai

          On August 7, 2019, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Apinya Sujarittanan and conducted an official inspection and met with heads of departments under the Ministry of Labour in Udon Thani, for the third round, in monitoring the overall performance of the units, following the government’s official inspection plan. The examination found that the agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Udon Thani province mostly followed the Ministry of Labour’s urgent policies, on the promotion of Thai workers to travel to work abroad through the correct process, in order to be protected by law, and the promotion of skill development to support the labour markets’ demand. From reports, in the 2019 fiscal year (Octocopter 2018 – June 2019), Udon Thani is the province that has the most people looking for work abroad, mostly traveling to Taiwan, followed by Israel, Korea, Japan, Finland, and other countries. The Udon Thani Provincial Administration recruits job seekers looking to work abroad legally. MOL Opens OSOS in Southern Border Government Center in Yala

           The Ministry of Labour integrated with local work units providing labour services within the One Start One Stop Investment Center (OSOS), located on the 3rd floor of the Southern Border Government Center Building, Muang Yala, Yala, facilitating investors, entrepreneurs and the general public who contact the government, driving the economy by linking government work systems in the southern border areas, in response to government policies.    Download Images             On August 7, 2019, Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha presided over the opening of the One Start One Stop Investment Center (OSOS) located on the 3rd floor of the Southern Border Government Center Building, Muang Yala, Yala. Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and heads of local government agencies were also present to welcome the Prime Minister and join the commencement. Romayong Surakitbanharn chaired the preparatory meeting for the Committee meeting with the Government of Qatar on labour issues, for the second time at the Trithep meeting room, 14th floor, Department of Employment. Chief Labour Inspector-General Conducts Official Inspection in Kamphaeng Phet

          On August 4, 2019, at 15.00 hours, the Ministry of Labour’s Chief Inspector-Generals Mrs. Achara Kaewgamchaicharoen, observed professional training activities following the project to resolve occupational problems of in 2019, under the “cloth tying and folding” course. Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Labour Director Ms. Yupin Moolchanatham, Mayor of Thung Pho Thale Subdistrict Mr. Singhawat Wattanasiri, Thung Pho Thale labour volunteer Mrs. Urai Thitavej and group members welcomed the visiting committee at the Nikhom Thung Pho Thale Municipality, Muang Kamphaeng Phet, Kamphaeng Phet province. Chief Labour Inspector-General Conducts Third Official Inspection in Buriram

          On August 2, 2019, at 09.00 hours, the Ministry of Labour’s Chief Inspector-General Mrs. Achara Kaewgamchaicharoen, presided over the meeting of provincial workers and officials, to monitor the performance of the Buriram Provincial Labour Office for 2019, for the third round. The meeting took place at the Buriram Provincial Labour Office Meeting Room. The examination found that operations of the audited agency have implemented projects/activities as determined by the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Labour. In terms of budget disbursements for FY 2019, expenses of projects/activities followed the goal. The Ministry of Labour’s Chief Inspector-General emphasized performance, considering the quality of work over quantity, and gave helpful advice. On the project to resolve occupational problems of participants who have already passed the training, the Cheif Inspector-General advised the network of local labour volunteers to follow up about additional income. She also observed services in applying for a pension benefit following Taiwanese labour law, for Thai workers who have worked in Taiwan. On August 5, 2018, H.E. Heads of Labour Inspector-Generals Conduct Inspection in Buriram

          On August 1, 2019, Head of the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-Generals Mrs. Achira Kaewkumchaicharoen, the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General Mr. Pongsak Sasimahasak and the Department of Skill Developments Inspector-General Mr. Wirat Khansorn examined the progress of the performance following the government’s monitoring evaluation plan for 2019, for the third round at the Fai Kham Conference Room, 3rd Floor, Buriram City Hall. In the morning, the Inspector-General chaired the meeting with officials and staff under the Ministry of Labour to monitor the performance following the government monitoring evaluation plan for 2019, for the third round. The examination found that operations focused on the 3A policies with 13 items, whereby agencies audited have performed according to the project/activity as determined by the ministry and departments. In terms of budget disbursements for FY2019, the expenditure of projects/events are on target. “Labour Inspector-General” Meets and Motivates Staff at Chumphon PIPO Center

          On July 30, 2019, at 21.30 hours, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Somsak Apiwantanakul along with Chumphon Labour Director Ms. Kankamon Chompoothong and staff from the Chumphon Provincial Labour Office visited the Chumphon Port-In Port-Out (PIPO) Control Center. Head of the operating unit CPO3 Vera Toeykoksoong welcomed the visiting committee. The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and committee traveled to inspect and give support to officials under the Ministry of Labour in Chumphon province while conducting an inspection of fishing boat Wanarapa Chai 29 and K. Kirapornchai 1 including Ms. Sirikul Ploynoi under the Chumphon Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office and Ms. Niparat Nomsomkid under the Chumphon Provincial Employment Office.
