MOL Discusses Resolution to Labour Shortage in Fisheries with the Fisheries Association of Thailand

          On December 21, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong to attend the meeting to listen to the proposal of the Fisheries Association of Thailand. The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Orathep Intarasakul, the Department of Employment’s Director-General Pairoj Chotikassthian, representatives from the Fisheries Association of Thailand, and related persons attended the event at Tien Achakul Room, 10th Floor, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour.           The meeting discussed the exercise of power under Section 83 of the Fisheries Act B.E. 2558 with conditions. Foreign workers must have passports or a document used instead of a passport that has not expired and has a stamp of entry into the Kingdom and has been granted permission to stay in the Kingdom temporarily and permission to stay in the Kingdom temporarily and work for no more than two years at a time. Labour Minister Joins PM Delegation to Pattani to Meet Mud Crab Breeding Group to Promote Community Income and Encourage Labour Volunteers and Graduates

          On December 15, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin joined the delegation of Prime Minister and Minister of Defence General Prayuth Chan-ocha to visit Pattani Province to check on the water management in flood-prone areas in the southern border provinces. Permanent Secretary of Labour Visits Tak to Prepare Importation of Foreign Workers to Work with Employers in the Kingdom under the MoU System

         On November 30, 2021, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong visited Tak Province to prepare to import foreigners to work with employers in the Kingdom, following the MoU process. He met with Deputy Governor of Tak and Acting Governor of Tak Province Mr. Somchai Kitcharoenrungroj to discuss government matters in preparation. The discussion took place at the Tak Provincial Governor’s Working Room. They also visited the second Mae Sot border checkpoint.           On November 29, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin presided over the ceremony to award certificates and pins of honour to outstanding civil servants appointed to the position of high-level director of the Ministry of Labour. The occasion took place at the Jompol P. Phibulsongkhram meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. MOL Foreign Workers Inspection Subcommittee Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic Meet

            On November 29, 2021, at 13.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong chaired the meeting of the Foreign Workers Inspection Subcommittee Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic. The meeting appointed a subcommittee and a task force to investigate and suppress the use of illegal foreign workers to control and prevent the COVID-19 outbreak, following the Cabinet’s resolution on September 28, 2021. Labour Minister Assigns Pol.Maj.Gen. Nantachat to Visit Sa Kaeo Border Checkpoint with Security Agencies to Help Thai Workers Deceived to Doing Illegal Work

          On October 29, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant Minister from the Prime Minister’s Office performing duties for the Ministry of Labour Police Major General Nantachat Supamongkol, to visit the border checkpoint in Sa Kaeo Province together with security agencies to help Thai people affected by Chinese call center scam through Facebook which forced them to work illegally. The cases appeared on social media and television, showing Thai people deceived and forced to work illegally in Cambodia. The affected people asked for support from the Thai government in returning to Thailand through social media. For this case, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan instructed the Ministry of Labour to urgently coordinate with relevant agencies to assist the Thai victims and expand the network on the relevant offenders.           Police Major General Nantachat said that the inspection found that such acts could be considered human trafficking, affecting the public’s safety in society. Central Group Joins Discussion on MOL Remedial Measures

            On October 29, 2021, at 14.00 hours, Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong chaired the meeting to discuss remedial measures of Central Group Co., Ltd. with Dr. Chatchai Norasethaporn, Senior Executive Vice President of Education, Society, and Sports Development Department, Central Group Co., Ltd., and his team. The meeting discussed the progress of hourly employee employment law and the payment for hourly wages, the policies and directions on employment post-COVID-19, the demand for labour, and the government’s approval to import migrant workers through MOUs. The meeting also discussed social security and the direction for coverage for the third dose of vaccinations for the people and risk group employees, the support on the law for people with disabilities (Article 33), which currently required a replacement for employees who have resigned within 45 days, to be extended to 60 days or as appropriate (in case of not finding a replacement within 45 days, there will be a fine and additional money). MOL Receives Rice from Private Sector to Support Flood Victims in Different Areas

          On October 29, 2021, at 13.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin received rice from Ms. Issei Phakhansawat, President of the Association of Employers for Investment in Thailand and company director of Billion Thai Supply Co., Ltd., amounting to 3,000 bags, totaling 15,000 kilograms. The donation was made to the Ministry of Labour to deliver to flood-affected workers. Labour Minister Instructs SSO to Help Blind Section 39 Insured Person to Receive Remedies Urgently

          On October 29, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the incident where the Social Security Office’s Spokesperson Ms. Ladda Saelee received a complaint through the program “Rueng Nee Tong Roo,” which was broadcast on the Thai Broadcasting Station on October 28. He said that Ms. Busakorn Charoenchai, the complainant, is blind in both eyes and has the status of an insured person under Section 39. She is entitled to receive compensation from the government but cannot link her PromptPay account to receive the compensation as she is a person who the court has ruled for bankruptcy. In this regard, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha are concerned about workers and entrepreneurs who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Deputy PM Shows Concern for Persons with Disabilities and Instructs MOL to Work with Private Sector on Employment Nationwide

          On October 26, 2021, at 10.00 hours, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan presided over the witnessing of the signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding on the Employment Project for People with Social Disabilities between the Department of Employment and seven leading enterprises. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion.
