เมื่อวันที่ 21 เมษายน 2566 นายสุชาติ ชมกลิ่น รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงแรงงาน เปิดเผยถึงข้อห่วงใย ไปยังคนไทยและแรงงานไทยที่พำนักในซูดาน หลังสถานการณ์ความไม่สงบในซูดานจากการปะทะกันระหว่างกองทัพซูดานกับกลุ่มกองกำลังติดอาวุธ Rapid Support Forces (RSF) ในกรุงคาร์ทูม และพื้นที่อื่นๆ ของประเทศว่า ในส่วนของกระทรวงแรงงาน ขอให้พี่น้องแรงงานไทยที่ทำงานอยู่ในประเทศซูดานเฝ้าระวัง ไม่ออกนอกเคหะสถาน ติดตามสถานการณ์ ข้อมูลข่าวสารจากกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ (กต.) อย่างใกล้ชิด เพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมอย่างทันท่วงที หากมีเหตุฉุกเฉินจำเป็นต้องอพยพกลับประเทศไทยก็ขอให้ปฏิบัติตามคำแนะนำของ กต.อย่างเคร่งครัดด้วยเช่นกัน ทั้งนี้ การให้ความช่วยเหลือของกระทรวงแรงงาน โดยกรมการจัดหางาน (กกจ.) ได้มีเงินกองทุนเพื่อช่วยเหลือคนหางานไปทำงานในต่างประเทศ เพื่อให้การช่วยเหลือแรงงานไทยที่ได้รับความเดือดร้อน กรณีคนงานไทยที่เป็นสมาชิกกองทุนและประสบปัญหาต้องเดินทางกลับประเทศไทยก่อนสิ้นสุดการเป็นสมาชิกกองทุน เนื่องจากภัยสงคราม หรือปัญหาความไม่สงบหรือจากภัยธรรมชาติหรือเกิดโรคระบาด ซึ่งทางการของประเทศนั้นๆ ประกาศกำหนดแล้ว ในการไปทำงานในต่างประเทศตามขั้นตอนของกฎหมายอีกด้วย
นายสุชาติ กล่าวต่อว่า จากการตรวจสอบข้อมูลของกองบริหารแรงงานไทยไปต่างประเทศ กรมการจัดหางาน กระทรวงแรงงาน ณ เดือนมีนาคม 2566 คาดว่าปัจจุบันมีแรงงานไทยที่ยังคงทำงานอยู่ในประเทศสาธารณรัฐซูดาน จำนวน 6 คน เป็นชายทั้งหมด ในจำนวนนี้ไปทำงานเป็นพนักงานขับรถเครน 3 คน ควบคุมเครื่องจักร 1 คน ช่างซ่อมบำรุง 1 คน และช่างไฟฟ้าทั่วไป 1 คน สมัครเป็นสมาชิกกองทุนเพื่อช่วยเหลือคนหางานไปทำงานในต่างประเทศ 3 คน และไม่ได้สมัครเป็นสมาชิกฯ 3 คน
ทั้งนี้ คนไทยและแรงงานไทยสามารถติดต่อขอความช่วยเหลือผ่านช่องทางการสื่อสารที่กระทรวงการต่างประเทศกำหนด หมายเลขฉุกเฉิน (096-165-7120, 096-352-0513, 096-352-9015) รวมทั้งสถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงไคโร ได้เปิดช่องทางการติดต่อเพื่อขอรับความช่วยเหลือที่หมายเลข +201 0194-01243 หรืออีเมล consular.cai@mfa.go.th

On April 21, 2023, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, openly expressed his concern for Thai people and workers residing in Sudan following the unrest and clashes between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum and other areas of the country. The Ministry of Labour asked Thai workers working in Sudan to be vigilant, to not go out of the house, to follow the situation closely from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) information, and to prepare promptly. If there is an emergency and it is necessary to evacuate back to Thailand, please follow the instructions as well. The Ministry of Labour’s Department of Employment (DOE) has a fund to help jobseekers work abroad. The fund supports Thai workers in distress. It supports Thai workers who are members of the fund and encounter problems, must return to Thailand before the expiration of the fund membership, as the war or unrest, or issues from natural disasters or pandemics, following that country’s official announcement, and to work abroad following the legal process.
Mr. Suchart continued that from checking the information from the Overseas Employment Administration Division, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour, as of March 2023, it is estimated that there are currently 6 Thai workers still working in the Republic of Sudan, all of whom are male. Of these, three people went to work as crane drivers, one as a machine operator, one as a maintenance technician, and one as a general electrician. Three people applied to be fund members to help job seekers work abroad, and three did not apply.
