Content Description

On September 15, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin welcomed Dr. Taweekiat Rongsawat, Chairman of the Employers’ Confederation of Thailand. He led representatives of the Employers’ Confederation of Thailand and 20 employers’ associations to meet and encourage the government and the Labour Minister in performing their duties well throughout, especially in support employers and employees under Sections 33, 39, and 40 during the COVID-19 situation. Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Suthep Chitayawong, Police Major General Nantachat Supamongkol from the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, performing duties for the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics) Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, Advisor to the Labour Minister Dr. Chamlong Chuayrod, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion at the Prasong Rananant Meeting Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour.
Mr. Suchart said that from the COVID-19 situation, the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, recognizes the importance of helping both employers and employees. No government had used its own money to help remedy employers and employees like this government in the past. This is because the Prime Minister sees that employers have fixed expenses; they have rent and employee salaries to pay during the COVID-19 situation. To support employees to remain employed and for businesses to survive, the Prime Minister, therefore, decided to provide remedies based on employers’ and employees information from the Social Security Office. The measures allow employers to maintain employment, have money to pay rent, support employees to survive and have morale at work and prevent the spread of COVID-19. In this part, the government considered the whole system.
Dr. Taweekiat Rongsawat, Chairman of the Employers’ Confederation of Thailand, said that today, the Employers’ Confederation of Thailand and all 20 employers’ associations had supported the Labour Minister for doing a good job. The Ministry of Labour has been revamped in a better way. The Labour Minister also informed them that the Prime Minister sees the importance and is concerned for both employers and employees. Hence, the government used its funding to help remedy both employers and employees from the impact of COVID-19, which no government has ever done before. He said that only this government sees the importance of businesses and workers to overcome the crisis together.
