Department of Employment Organizes “Buriram Day of Create Jobs and Careers in Honour of the Monarchy”

           On June 17, 2019, at the Wicha Attasart Auditorium, Buriram Rajabhat University in Buriram, Deputy Permanent Secretary Pol.Maj. Romayong Surakitbunharn presided over the opening ceremony of the “Buriram Day of Create Jobs and Careers in Honour of the Monarchy,” organized by the Buriram Provincial Office of Employment between June 17–18, 2019. At the event, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Employment Mrs. Thienrat Nawamawat gave a report.

 

 

          Deputy Permanent Secretary Pol.Maj. Romayong Surakitbunharn said that the purpose of this event is to show loyalty and appreciation of the royal family and increase employment opportunities for the unemployed and the general public and for employers, companies and job seekers to meet and consider employment directly with the company. The initiative also aims to reducing labour shortages and fulfill the government’s policy following the 20-year national strategic framework (2017-2036) that focuses on strengthening and developing human capital potential, reducing inequality and strengthening the economy by promoting all Thais to have a comprehensive job and career, generating stable income for those entering the labor market and prioritizing underprivileged women to create fairness, reducing social inequality moving Thailand towards “stability, prosperity and sustainability”.
          The event had 20 employers/companies both in Buriram and nearby provinces which participated in recruiting and interviewing such as Big C Supercenter, Robinson, Home Product Center, Siam Makro. Cargill Meats (Thailand) from Nakhon Ratchasima, with over 208 vacancies and 2,653 positions, such as production staff, sales staff, assistant petrol station managers, public relations officers on the telephone, accounting staff, customer service staff, warehouse staff and accountants. In addition, the event included job search through the job box, registration for work in the country and abroad via the e-service system, an exhibition in honour of the royal family, an exhibition on jobs supporting a Thailand 4.0, career readiness assessments, career-orientated quizzes and a showcase and sale of products made by home workers, elderly workers, people with disabilities and their caretakers. The event also had labour clinics and provided services of agencies under the Ministry of Labour, independent career demonstrations such as making fermented fish chili paste, mushroom sausages, palm desserts, kanom babin, coffee, smoothies, tea, natural dyes from volcanic soil, baskets from plastic strings, nail art, hats and hammocks from fabric pieces for example. There was also a singing contest in honour of the royal family, prizes and discussions on traveling to work abroad correctly.
          The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour thanked Buriram Rajabhat University for supporting the venue, employers/companies participating in recruitment and job interviews and employers that promoted employment of people with disabilities in the workplace. She also thanked government agencies in the area, the private sector and guidance teacher networks for supporting the event which will benefit the unemployed and the public to have a career with income as well as students. She said that the students who will grow to become an important force of the nation would have information about jobs and work and learn from the various activities. The activities will also contribute to solving the problem of unemployment, labour shortages, skills development, capabilities and labour force efficiency, resulting in more people having work, income and better living.
