On June 4, 2021, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat received the negative pressure chambers from the Foundation for King Prajadhipok’s Institute and the King Prajadhipok’s Institute Society. Dr. Nattachai Suwachittanon, Mr. Parinya Talasor, and Mr. Thatchaporn Wataksorn were representatives of the King Prajadhipok’s Institute Society and the Foundation for King Prajadhipok’s Institute to donate the negative pressure unit, which will be given to 4 community hospitals, namely Chaloem Phrakiat Hospital, Somdej Phra Yupparat Pua Hospital, Nan Province, Mae Sai Hospital and Somdej Phra Yuparat Hospital, Chiang Rai Province, to be used as a room to treat Covid-19 patients.
Prof. Narumon said a negative pressure chamber is a necessary unit in caring for Covid-19 infected patients. The virus is an emerging pathogen that can spread in the air. Having a negative pressure chamber will help healthcare professionals to take care of patients safely. The Foundation for King Prajadhipok’s Institute has joined with the King Prajadhipok’s Institute Society to design negative pressure chambers to donate to community hospitals. They will dispatch a team of engineers from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi to install the units at all four hospitals by mid-June 2021.
The Deputy Labour Minister continued that many hospitals have a large number of negative pressure rooms, so if possible, this knowledge should be passed on to the Department of Skill Development trainers to pass on to the workforce. This will allow workers to jointly create additional negative pressure chambers, to be delivered to the hospital in need, which will benefit the people, reduce the loss of life of patients from contracting Covid-19, and help medical personnel.
“I thank the Foundation for King Prajadhipok’s Institute and the King Prajadhipok’s Institute Society for donating negative pressure rooms to help patients from the Covid-19 pandemic to all four hospitals. The Department of Skill Development is prepared to transfer this knowledge to workers to benefit and care for Covid-19 patients. I would like to encourage doctors, nurses, staff, and everyone. We will get through this crisis together,” said the Deputy Labour Minister.
