The Deputy Labour Minister toured and observed the Department of Skill Development’s mission in the Isarn region, starting at Khon Kaen Institute for Skill Development 6 in Khon Kaen. The visiting party gave assistance and subsidies to organizations that develop their employees’ skills beyond the target and those serving as a standard testing center that has conducted national skill standards testing to 100 participants in the Covid-19 crisis.
On August 28, 2020, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumol Pinyosinwat, Assistant Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Parkin Sommitthanakun and the Ministry of Labour’s executives visited Khon Kaen to provide subsidies to organizations and the national skill standards testing centers that have implemented the Skill Development Promotion Act. The occasion took place at the Khon Kaen Institute for Skill Development 6. A total of three organizations and labour skill standard testing center sent representatives to receive grants or subsidies. This included Carpet Maker (Thailand) Co., Ltd., which met the criteria for training over 70 percent of their employees and was therefore entitled to subsidies from the Skill Development Fund at the rate of 200 Baht/person. The company had an average of 577 employees in 2019, a total of 577 people developed skills for more than 70% of the 63 employees (467 trained), thus receiving financial aid or subsidies totaling 12,600 Baht.
The other two organizations that received aid or subsidies were national skill standard testing centers. This included the Northeastern Technological College licensed as a testing center in 2 branches: indoor electricians and computer workers. The other was the School of Professional Promotion and Thai Cultural Spa licensed as a testing center in the branch of Thai massage therapists. The two organizations conducted national labour skill standard assessments according to the authorized occupation field. From assessing 100 people and more, the organizations were entitled to assistance or subsidy of 10,000 Baht per place.
Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan and Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumol Pinyosinwat gave certificates to 20 trainees who participated in a baking course, for members of the community enterprise group at the Rice Seed Production Center. Participants joined a 12-hour training period between August 3 – 4, 2020, at Ban Non Rang, Sawah, Muang, Khon Kaen. The training was following the project to increase labour productivity towards an SME 4.0. There was also a cooking demonstration (Pad Thai), a showcase of professional training from silk product trainees and athletes from the Worker Rehabilitation Center Region 2, who also joined the event.
“Congratulations to the trainees who have participated in the project to increase labour productivity towards an SME 4.0 for 2020. I hope that you will be able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills to the production of various products. This will increase the competitiveness and affect the community’s income, which will lead to a better quality of life. Congratulations to the subsidized business establishments, which will encourage other organizations to focus on human resource development to compete in the rapidly changing market in the 4.0 era. I wish that you continue to develop your workforce continuously,” concluded the Deputy Labour Minister.
