Deputy Prime Minister warns that March 31, 2018 free foreign workers illegally and the understanding of legal labor continues

         November 23, 2016 at 10.00 am General Pravit Wongsuwan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense presided over the meeting of the Committee on Labor Force Management and Human Trafficking Policy at the Ministry of Labor, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labor, and the Board of Representatives from various agencies join the meeting. In this regard, the Committee has considered the establishment of a database of migrant workers in Thailand. Group 1, migrant workers working in the fisheries sector, and aquatic processing enterprises. Group 2 Workers who have screened the employer-employee relationship screening (according to the NCP 33 / 2017) and Group 3, Foreign Workers holding Non-Thai Identity Card (Pink Card). The meeting also approved the Ministry of Labor to submit to the Ministry of Labor. The Department of Justice’s approval Ministry of the Interior has authority to assign 13 digits to foreign workers.

         Gen. Pravit suggested to the meeting as follows: 1. The Ministry of Labor and Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the country of origin to expedite the examination of nationality to labor, for the benefits and protections that workers will receive once they have passed the naturalization process. 2. The Ministry of Interior Ministry of Labour and the relevant agencies to accelerate the implementation of the guidelines agreed by the committee to ensure the management of the work of the aliens are neat and effective 3. The Ministry of Labor, Labor Relations and Public Relations will provide information on employment and legal issues to employers, employees and the public to raise awareness and share responsibility for the common.

         Permanent Secretary of Labor said The government has a policy to solve the problem of foreign workers. By March 31, 2018, no illegal migrants will be allowed to work. In management, there should be a single database of migrant workers at the relevant agencies. The Ministry of Labor will consider employing foreign workers. It is in line with the needs of the labor market in each occupational group. If an employer or investor needs more foreign workers It must be done in the form of a state-to-state (G to G) foreign worker or an agreement between a legitimate recruitment company in the two countries(MOU). “We need to focus on Thai workers first. At present, there are infrastructure investments. The plan is to encourage Thai people to work more. It requires cooperation from all sectors according to the state. In order for Thai people to work in dignity, ” Mr. Jarin said.
