Chairman of the Bangkok Hawker Community, Ms. Yada Pornpetcharumpa, herself, and the Bangkok Hawker Community members presented a basket to thank the Prime Minister through the Labour Minister for seeing the importance of the stall hawkers. The stalls joined the “sharing kindness from shop to workers” project by preparing food boxes to deliver to worker camps. The members participated in the project from July 12 to 27 for 16 days, which helped relieve them from suffering. Today, the Chairman of the Bangkok Hawker Community spoke to the club members. He inspired them, saying that once we have had the opportunity to be rescued, we should return the opportunity to society one day. After the project was completed on July 27, the community prepared 5,500 food boxes to distribute to homeless people.

Ms. Sasimon Hui or Auntie Kai, a street hawker in Bangkok, said today, the community thanks to the government, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin for giving them a chance to have a job and earn for subsistence, to feed their families.

“This measure is a supplementary measure, whereby the Ministry of Labour asks employers for their cooperation to control the spread of COVID-19. In addition to taking care of the camp workers, it helps to lighten the burden and alleviate the suffering of small entrepreneurs, including hawker stalls affected by COVID-19, by providing income to families. Let’s move past this situation together without leaving anyone behind, in alignment with the government’s policy,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
