Inspector-General of Labour Visit Thai Workers in Israel

          Today (June 14, 2019) Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Apinya Sujarittanan and committee including the Department of Employment’s Inspector-General Mr. Suwan Duangta, the Department of Skill Development’s Inspector-General Mr. Chakrit Decha and the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Inspector-General Mrs. Udomluk Sornsari and Minister Counsellor (on labour) Mr. Sakdinat Sontisakyothin traveled to meet employers and visited Thai workers working in the central region of Israel at Kibbutz Ramatachel, a cherry garden, with 10 Thai workers. From discussion with the Thai workers, it was found that they were satisfied with the working and employment conditions. The workers were mostly from the northeast, with an average monthly income of 5,000 – 6,000 Shekels (NIS) or about 40,000 – 48,000 Baht and were living in appropriate conditions. The inspectors emphasized that the workers’ practice diligence, patience, willingness to work, refrain from drugs and gambling, and harvest experiences and knowledge in agricultural technology to be adapted and furthered in their occupation when returning to Thailand. They also emphasized that if there is a problem or need labour assistance is needed, to consult the Labour Department at the embassy.
