Inspector-General of Labour Visits Thai Workers in Israel Content with Living Conditions and Income Returned Home

           The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and committee met with employers, to visit and deliver sports equipment to Thai workers working in vineyards in the central part of Israel. The workers expressed satisfaction with working conditions, income, and the ability to send at least 30,000 Baht per month back home. The committee emphasized to put protective equipment on from agricultural chemicals and to not interfere with the vices and drugs.

 

 

          On June 15, 2019, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Apinya Sucharitanan and a committee of departmental inspectors including the Department of Employment’s Inspector-General Mr. Suwan Duangta, the Department of Skill Development’s Inspector-General Mr. Chakrit Decha, the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Inspector-General Mrs. Udomluk Sornsari and Minister Counsellor (on labour) Mr. Sakdinat Sontisakyothin, traveled to meet 3 employers and visit Thai workers working in the central region of Israel at Moshav Lackish, a vineyard with 35 Thai workers. From discussions, it was found that the workers were mostly from the northeast and were able to send at least 30,000 Baht home to families each month. From inspections, the Thai workers were living in appropriate living conditions
          The inspecting committee emphasized for the workers to know their rights and duties and have discipline. They also highlighted that in changing employers, the workers comply with the law and be within the specified time and conditions. The committee also stressed to abstain from drugs, gambling and quarreling to maintain a positive image of Thailand and to use chemical protection equipment from agricultural chemicals and harvest knowledge in agricultural technology to be adapted and furthered in their occupation when returning to Thailand.
          The visiting committee met with Thai workers and gave words of encouragement to a patient recently out of surgery and on pacemakers due to an abnormal heartbeat. They asked that the Thai workers use their free time by exercising regularly to maintain their health. On this occasion, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General also provided sports equipment to Thai workers and urged workers with problems or in need of assistance, to contact the Labour Department at the Thai Embassy.
