On August 12, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Dr. Chamlong Chuayrod to visit the area to donate 3,000 sets of survival bags to four taxi associations, comprising the Suvarnabhumi Taxi Coordinating Association, the Thai Public Taxi Association, the Electric Vehicle Taxi Association, and the Public Taxi Drivers Association. Each association will help distribute the bags to help taxi driver and their families affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. The Department of Employment’s Deputy Director-General, Mr. Nanthachai Panyasurarit, the Ministry of Labour’s officials, and Suvarnabhumi Airport staff joined the occasion.
Dr. Chamlong said that today, the Ministry of Labour under the leadership of Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin sees the hardships inflicted on the workforce from the impact of COVID-19. Therefore, he was assigned to visit the area and meet with the four taxi associations to deliver 3,000 sets of survival bags, to support society to overcome this situation together and alleviate the suffering of taxi drivers and their families affected by the COVID-19 outbreaks. The efforts align with the government’s intent to leave no one behind.
“People who received the survival bags thanked Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin for handing over 3,000 bags of rice, instant noodles, canned fish, and masks to members of the four taxi associations. The main locations were at Suvarnabhumi, Laksi, Bang Khen, and on the Thonburi side. However, the bags were not enough to meet the needs of members waiting to receive them. Therefore, the executive committees of the four associations requested an additional 3,000 bags, following their request for 6,000 bags, to be further distributed to the members working in the afternoon,” concluded Dr. Chamlong.
