Labour Minister Assigns Secretariat to Receive Complaints from Triumph Workers’ Union and Brilliant Alliance Employees

          On September 20, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Suthep Chitayawong to chair the meeting and receive a letter from the representatives of the Triumph International Workers’ Union of Thailand, along with representatives of employees of Brilliant Alliance Thai Global Co., Ltd., to follow up on the progress of the expenditure of the central budget, emergency or necessary funds to pay employees who have been laid off, concerning wages in lieu of advance notice, compensation, wages for annual vacation, bonus and diligence allowances, to alleviate suffering. Deputy Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Mr. Wannarat Srisuksai, also joined the occasion at the Labour Relations Committee meeting room, 1st floor, Department of Labour Protection and Welfare. Mr. Suthep said that the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan have been monitoring the labour situation all along and are concerned about employees who have been terminated. Thus, the Ministry of Labour was assigned to follow up and help employees to receive benefits and protection under the law.
          Mr. Suthep said that today, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned him to meet the workers and receive complaints in person on various issues, including the case of giving special leave due to COVID-19 by the TOSTEM Thai Workers’ Union, whereby the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare was assigned to coordinate with the provincial agencies to find a solution. There was also the case of Body Fashion (Thailand) Co., Ltd., which requested to review the payment of employee allowances which will expire on October 29. The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare was assigned to attend the meeting to discuss the Employee Welfare Fund as quickly as possible and the Triumph Workers’ Union regarding the reserve budget to be paid to the employee first. Initially, the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare has made a letter to the Budget Bureau in response, and the Criminal Court has already issued arrest warrants to both employers.
