The Ministry of Labour organized the “Careers for Sustainability 2019” event to extend opportunities for employment, strengthen economic foundations, distribute income to communities, and reduce inequality sustainability.
On July 31, 2019, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul chaired the opening of the “Careers for Sustainability 2019” event at the Jompol P. Pibulsongkhram Conference Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour and art the ministry’s foyer on the first floor. Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and the ministry’s executives also joined the event. The Department of Employment’s Director-General Mrs. Petcharat Sinauy gave an address, whereby the Labour Minister delivered a speech. He said that increasing the potential of economic foundations to generate and distribute income to the community, and create learning and independent career training, is the development of foundational strength; this is important to the economic growth and competitiveness of the country. This event’s objective is to spark the idea of professions for the people and is an opportunity for employers to meet manufacturers of products or to showcase and sell products, which is an economic stimulus and distributes income to communities to reduce the inequality in opportunities and income among people, following government policy. It is an excellent opportunity for people to access to the Ministry of Labour’s services ad opens a world of careers, allowing people to learn and practice various freelance jobs. There are still many people who are unable to enter the employment system for necessity and because they are not ready to work in the system for many reasons such as family, health or may have restrictions on traveling to work including those who have a responsibility to take care of patients such as people with disabilities or elderly people who cannot help themselves and need to work at home to take care of family members or are self-employed to support family expenses.
The Department of Employment’s Director-General Mrs. Petcharat Sinauy said that this event hosted exciting activities such as career guidance services, professional readiness and proficiency assessments, training to provide education on different topics, income generation, and new trends through online systems and packaging design and development to add value to products. The event also includes knowledge about job protection for home workers, applications for insurers under Section 40, exhibiting and selling products from 50 self-employed groups and homeworkers nationwide, including fabrics and products made from material, decorative ornaments and souvenirs, wickerwork, leather goods, accessories, food and processed food and demonstration and professional practice. A total of 45 self-employed people in Bangkok and nearby provinces showcased crafts and handicrafts in food types and showcased food trucks, such as noodle salads, James Bang 007, steamed bread, ancient coffee, 100 million ice cream, and Bang Krang tom yum chicken noodles. The event also hosted games and quizzes, giving away many prizes.
