Labour Minister Joins Meeting on Remedies for Informal Private Schools Affected by COVID-19 Via Zoom

Content Description

On August 20, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke at the seminar on remedial measures for informal private schools via Zoom at the Saengsingkaew room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayawong, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics) Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, Chairman of the Confederation of the Coordinating Committee for the Promotion of Non-Formal Private Education of Thailand, Mr. Pornchai Pisansitkul, along with the Ministry of Labour’s senior executives also joined the occasion.

Mr. Suchart said that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, are concerned and want to improve the quality of life of people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many countries have implemented lockdown measures or shut down cities to limit the movement of people and reduce close contact, which has directly affected people in affected activities, including the non-formal private school sector. The sector has several types of schools, most of which cannot be taught online. When there is an order to refrain from using buildings, such businesses must close by default. As a result, both the school, teachers, assistants, and school personnel lose income. When the Ministry of Labour received information or complaints, the Labour Minister assigned Ms. Ladda Saelee, Inspector-General from the Social Security Office, to provide information and listen to the issues, to find a way to help and heal everyone as quickly as possible. For teachers and personnel of non-formal private schools who qualify as Section 40 insured persons, they can apply for the benefits, which have been extended until August 24.

The Labour Minister also expressed his concern for the school administrators, teachers, personnel, and the general public and cautioned them strictly following public health measures, social distancing, wearing a mask, and washing hands often.
