Labour Minister Joins PM Delegation to Deliver Floating Restrooms to Help Flood Victims and Support Labour Volunteers in Singburi

          On October 20, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin joined the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha’s delegation to visit the area for an official inspection of Singburi Province. The first point was the Bang Khae community under Bang Rachan Bridge, Bang Kabu Subdistrict, Mueang Singburi District, Singburi Province, to monitor the flood situation. Governor of Singburi Province Mr. Chaichan Sitthiwiratham gave a report on the situation. The delegation made a visit to support and donate survival bags to flood victims in Bang Khae Nai community. The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, the Department of Employment’s Director-General Pairoj Chotiksetian, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion. On this occasion, there were ten labour volunteers from Singburi Province, together with Section 40 insured persons, who joined the welcoming. The Prime Minister gave encouragement to the Singburi Province labour volunteers who came to welcome and help the victims. There were 43 labour volunteers in Singburi. Their mission is to coordinate labour services in the area to provide people with jobs, skills, careers, and income and ensure protection and sustainable social security as well. At present, there are 8,110 labour volunteer workers nationwide.

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gave five floating restrooms to the Prime Minister to hand over to the Singburi Provincial Governor to help the flood victims, as many areas were highly flooded for several days in a row, causing community members to live their lives with difficulty. The Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development organized the DSD’s Volunteer Project for Society, with love and concern from the Ministry of Labour and the private sector. The project has received cooperation from the skill development network that supported various materials and equipment. The Department of Skill Development prepared floating toilets to deliver to provinces that have been affected by the flooding to help the people affected by the continued floods. The second point was at Wat Chalermmat to inspect the condition of the water barrier along the Chao Phraya River, and the third point was at Singburi Technical College, Bang Phuttha Subdistrict, Mueang Singburi District, Singburi Province, to preside over the opening ceremony of the project “Sending Good Health to the Thai people from the Heart of the Thai Post Office.” The Prime Minister pressed a button to release a drone to deliver medicine boxes to the homes of the victims.

          Chairman of Singburi Province Labour Volunteers Mr. Somsak Phuang-iam is currently a labour volunteer at Phochonkai Subdistrict, Bang Rachan District. He thanked the Prime Minister and the Labour Minister, who visited the area to meet and support the labour volunteers and deliver relief bags. Floating restrooms were also given to help the villagers today, who were suffering from the flooding.

          In Singburi Province, there is flooding in three districts, namely in In Buri Muang and Phrom Buri, where damage and suffering were brought upon ten subdistricts, 46 villages, and 5,149 households.
