Labour Minister Satisfied with Progress of Remedies Payments to Section 33 Insured Persons in 10 Provinces under 9 Business Types

          On August 8, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin revealed that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan sees the hardships and is concerned for the workers and entrepreneurs affected by the COVID-19 situation. Therefore, the government as measures to remedy those affected by the “lockdown” in the 13 dark red provinces, namely Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, Songkhla, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The measures cover nine types of business, namely construction, accommodation and food services, art activities, entertainment and recreation, and other service activities, to nine branches, with the addition of transportation and storage, wholesale and retail, automotive repair, administrative, and support activities, professional activities in science and academia, and information and communication activities.

          Mr. Suchart spoke about the payment of remedies to Section 33 insured persons in the ten provinces under nine business types. The Social Security Office’s report stated that remedies have already been transferred to 2,434,182 people, totaling 6,085,0000,000 Baht. The operation went smoothly, with only around 200,000 insured persons who had not linked their PromptPay account to their ID cards. It is accelerating the process for PromptPay users to link with their ID cards to be completed by August 9 to start transferring money on August 13. Insured persons can check their rights at the Social Security Office website on www.sso.go.th/eform_news/. For the three additional provinces, namely Chonburi, Chachoengsao, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, payment will be made on August 9.

          “I have reported the status of payment for Section 33 insured persons in the ten provinces to the Prime Minister already. He was satisfied with the overall progress that was able to alleviate the suffering for the people to a certain extent, as well as to alleviate the burden of family living expenses to overcome the COVID-19 situation, following the government’s policy without leaving anyone behind,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
