Content Description

The Labour Minister delivered consumer goods to help the Labour Rights Promotion Network (LPN) to help foreign workers in the east and in the Aranyaprathet district.
On August 5, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, the Ministry of Labour’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayawong, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics) Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, and Director-General of the Department of Employment Mr. Phairoj Chotikasathian, donated consumables donated to the Ministry of Labour by the private sector. The donations were delivered to the Labour Right Promotion Network (LPN) to help Thai people and migrant workers who have suffered from the impact of COVID-19. The occasion took place at the foyer on the 1st floor, Ministry of Labour building. The donation included instant noodles and 2,700 eggs.
Mr. Suchart said that in the past, the Ministry of Labour had supported food expenses by utilizing the budget from the Foreign Workers Management Fund to alleviate the suffering of the workers in the camp. They ordered food boxes, partially from Hawkers Association, the Thai Restaurant Association, and restaurants at the construction campsites affected by the camp closure measures. Over one million food boxes have been delivered to sites in Bangkok and surrounding areas. In addition to helping provide income to the shops, the effort also supports foreign workers, and at the same time, contributes to income distribution. Money will continue to circulate in the economy. Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, attach great importance to this. The Ministry of Labour is one channel that delivers consumer goods donated from the private sector and generous citizens to give to employees in the workers’ camp and foreign workers who have suffered from the impact.
Mr. Sompong Sakaeo, Director of Labour Rights Promotion Network (LPN), thanked the Labour Minister for supporting consumer goods. The network will take what has been received today to assemble a survival kit to help Thai people and foreigners affected by the spread of COVID-19 in the east. The volunteers reported that most of them were Cambodians stranded in Aranyaprathet District, unable to return home. They are in shortage of rice and dry foods. The network will continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Labour.
