MOL Exchanges Experience in Labour Dimensions on Social Responsibility: Policy and Experience from ASEAN

         The Ministry of Labour had an academic conference to exchange experiences in labour dimensions on social responsibility: policy and experience from the region. The conference aimed to enhance knowledge and understanding of business operations with social responsibility and sustainability from the perspective of valuable work.

 

 

          On March 1, 2019, Permanent Secretary of Labourม Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-Generalม Mr. Somsak Apiwantanakul to chair the opening ceremony of the academic conference to exchange experiences in labour dimensions on social responsibility: policy and experience from the region. The meeting took place at the Prof. Nikom Chandravithun conference room, 5th floor, Department of Labour Protection and Welfare. The conference followed an invitation to Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo by the International Labor Organization in Thailand Cambodia and Laos (ILO), to chair the commencement of the stakeholder conference under the sustainable supply chain program in Asia on the topic of “valuable work for sustainable supply chain business”, in collaboration with HE Mr. Prikka Tapiola, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union in Thailand and Mr. Graeme Buckley, Director of the ILO for Thailand, Cambodia and Laos, on February 28, 2019 at 09.00 – 09.45 hours at the Eastin Grand Sathorn Bangkok.
          The ILO requested the Ministry of Labour’s cooperation in organizing a meeting to exchange experiences on such matters on March 1, 2019, at 09.30 – 13.00 hours at the Prof. Nikom Chandravithun conference room, 5th floor, Department of Labour Protection and Welfare. The Permanent Secretary assigned Mr. Somsak as the chairman of the meeting with ILO expert Mr. Thomas Thomas as a speaker on “valuable work for sustainable business in the supply chain.” The conference also shared operational experience on social responsibility within the ASEAN region to enhance knowledge and understanding of business operations with social responsibility and sustainability from the perspective of valuable work, creating an environment on a policy that is conducive to promoting business with social responsibility. The information was shared with the Ministry of Labour’s relevant staff to acknowledge, exchange views and express opinions within the framework of valuable work (Decent Work).
