MOL Hosts Press Release on Occupational Safety and Health Conference this 4th-6th at BITEC Bangna

         The Ministry of Labour, by the Thailand Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, held the press conference for the 33rd National Occupational Safety and Health Conference which will take place on July 4-6, at BITEC, Bangna, Bangkok. The conference aims to promote a culture of workplace safety and awareness for all sectors.
   

 

 

        On July 1, 2019, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthu Sukosol chaired the press conference for the 33rd National Occupational Safety and Health Conference, which will be held between July 4-6, 2019, at the BITEC Exhibition and Convention Center, Bang Na, Bangkok. Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare Mr. Wiwat Tangsong, President of the Thailand Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Gen. Apichart Saengrungrueng, Deputy Secretary from the Social Security Office Ms. Amphan Tuwwit and the ministry’s executives also joined the occasion at the Prof. Nikom Chandravithu conference room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. The Permanent Secretary said that the Ministry of Labour has continuously driven safety, occupational health, and working environment initiatives following the government’s policy that has determined Safety Thailand as a national agenda, by starting to create safety awareness among school children until the working age, which is the main objective. At present, the government has a policy to develop the country into Thailand 4.0, in which entrepreneurs cooperate in the development of labour potential and ensure that they focus on creating a safety culture, because if there is proper protection, then accidents in the workplace will reduce. The Ministry of Labour and network partners have invited companies to comply with safety laws to reduce accidents from work to zero incidents.
        The event was held to raise awareness of the importance of work safety, stimulating the reinforcement of safety awareness in the workplace for those involved in all sectors. The initiative promotes employers, employees and all related people to exchange knowledge and experience and express opinions on the development of workplace safety, as well as become aware of work safety policies from government agencies as a guideline for management along with law enforcement.
        The event hosted activities with academic seminars on over 30 topics and a lecture on the topic “Creating a Preventive Thai Culture on Occupational Safety, Health and Well-being.” There was also an award for accident prevention to zero campaigns for 2020, including a contest on innovation, a storyboard contest on occupational safety, health and well-being, an emergency team contest, a Safety Youth Brand Ambassador 2019 contest, an exhibition in honour of the royal family on management in safety, an showcase of goods and products, activities on innovation from government agencies, the private sector and educational institutions with over 100 booths, and mini-concerts by artists.
