PM Concerned for Pregnant Women and Instructs Labour Minister to Request Employers’ Cooperation to Prioritize Pregnant Insured Persons Under Section 33 for Vaccinations

          On August 21, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that the Ministry of Labour’s announcement dated August 19, 2021, asked for employers cooperation for taking care of pregnant women employees’ health, following the guidelines on health care for pregnant women amid the COVID-19 pandemic prescribed by the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health. It recommends that pregnant workers insured under Section 33 be vaccinated to prevent and reduce the severity of COVID-19 infections. The government led by Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan is concerned about the workers amid the COVID-19 pandemic and has made vaccinations a national agenda, especially pregnant employees insured under Section 33 who should be fully vaccinated first. Therefore, he assigned the Directors of the Bangkok Social Security Office in Area 1-12 and all provincial Social Security Offices with vaccination points for Section 33 insured persons to accelerate publicity and ask employers to invite and recommend to pregnant employees to get vaccinated and to share a list of names to the Social Security Office, to supervise and manage pregnant employees as a priority group for vaccinations at each facility.
